Next Up: @ Steelers

Wiggins been catching heat from a lot of people this season, but nearly every target he has shut down, we can watch a WR1 torch our whole secondary all day but then when Wiggins gets targeted against that same WR1 the torching immediately stops. He did it to jamarr chase last week, the only defender who showed up for him.

If we had any sense we’d stick tf out of Pickens with Wiggins and Humphrey and not allow another db to be responsible for him.

It's crazy how if we had any amount of pass rush, our secondary issues wouldn't be this bad at all. It's going to suck watching Watt be up in Lamar's face in zero seconds and Lamar having to scramble every play disrupting everything we do. I hope our game turns out like tonight's game where it was a close game all game, then much like Saquon did tonight, Henry takes over and we pull away with the win in the 4th.
Steelers being -3 dogs at home makes me think it’s a close one all day and possibly a heartbreaker.

think he had a tough week 2 and 3 against davante and ceedee at times iirc

He hasn’t been perfect all year for sure, he’s looked like a rookie at times, but for the most part, he looks like a future lockdown cb and he’s been the 2nd best cb on the team by a mile and a half

oh i agree
just dont think he's been flawless so far

on my first run through of his film as a draft prospect i had him as a top 10 type prospect as a cover corner - dropped in the process a little for me by the end because of the weight and durability

He caught some heat early but he’s turned it around. I don’t think anyone has been complaining about his play recently.

Wiggins was a little shaky in the beginning when he WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT THAT FLIPPED HIS CAR. He's settled in tremendously. Occasionally when he makes a mistake he's pretty far off his guy. But the number of times he's making a mistake is like 0 or 1 times a game. You have to be very happy with his rookie year thus far.

I mean, his worst game was the week before the car accident to be fair. But he’s a rookie. He’s gotten a lot better. That’s where it’s at.

Yes pass rush is below what we'd like. That being said in my opinion, Orrs scheme and playcalling is just exposing Brandon Stephens for the level of player he really is. Additionally, Marcus Williams just seems checked out. If those 2 just played totally league average, our defense would be tremendously better. But Brandon is like lower 25% and Marcus may actually be the worst safety in the league with his number of stats this year.
Marcus doesn't even try, at least Stephens is in the area code, just can never be in a position to make a play. Makes me wonder if Stephens needs to transition back to safety.

I'll say that I don't think Stephens looks drastically different on tape this year compared to last year. I think teams have caught on that he doesn't turn his head and have attacked him as such a lot more this year. We also had a really rough stretch of virtually no pass rush for a few weeks there and I don't think that helps anyone in that secondary.

I still think he's a good, not great player who is being highlighted a bit more because (a) as mentioned above, he's being attacked a bit differently this year and (b) he's generally lining up against WR1 and teams are throwing the ball there regardless of who is covering.

With all of that being said, I think Pickens is likely to a tough matchup for him. He's great at acrobatic back shoulder throws, and Russ is good enough to spot those. It'll all depend on which version of Pickens' brain shows up.
