Next Up: @ Chargers

If we were to lose to the chargers, should be worried about us not making the playoffs?
I’d have to believe 10 gets in and we have Browns and Giants which should be wins, so that means just need one more between @Houston, Phili, Steelers, @Chargers. Hard to believe only 6 more games

Its annoying. Because the future is and has been so obvious. And we know what we're gonna have to deal with in the media going forward. And the prospects of future years don't look as good as they've been the last few. I think the best thing that can happen is a coaching regime change after this year.

why dont the prospects of future years look as good?

Giving up on the division? We will definitely split with those guys and I'm guessing the Bengals get them once also. This division will go down to the wire.

not giving up on the division
just pointing out that this game has massive implications in the wildcard race in the AFC

not really
we've got a 2 game lead on the colts, a 3 game lead on the dolphins and a 3 game lead on the bengals (with the h2h tiebreaker)

would be tough to imagine us falling all the way out of the playoffs to those teams
I haven't checked the Colts remaining schedule yet, but the Dolphins have somewhat of a favorable schedule:

Jets (2x), vs. Patriots, at Packers, vs. 49ers, at Texans, at Browns. I see at least 5 wins right there.

I think 10 wins get us in tbh.

Were you in attendance for last year's game too? Just hearing the crowd, it seemed like a 50/50 split.

Yup. I was at the SF game on Xmas and the LA game year.

The LA game last year was the most Ravens fans I’ve ever been around. I live in Central California and have been only been to away games when the Ravens travel west but never have I seen so many Ravens fans. It was at least 50/50. I loved it! I’m hoping we show up again.

I know it’s the Lamar effect but I’ve been seeing so many more Ravens fans around. Growing up i remember saying I was a Ravens fans and people would look at me like “who tf is that” lol

Now… I’ll see a random Ravens fan every couple weeks. It’s pretty cool tbh. I expect a big crowd in LA next week

Lamar's salary ballooning nunber 1. And 2, the teams that win with paid QBs are well, basically no one. So you have to draft exceptionally well. We've only drafted average to slightly above average.

Every statistic out there still has us at the top of the draft rankings. More players drafted by the Ravens in the league than any other team. Don’t let the misses skew the hits. We’ve drafted extremely well. Some guys just may not show it until year 3 or so. And some guys will suck and never make it, but we’ve hit on a lot more than we've missed recently.

I think we've been good in RD1. Beyond that, RD3 better than RD2. Day 3 we usually pick people that stick on rosters but don't account for much. We're not bad by any means but are we doing enough to offset the inability to do much in FA because of how much of our cap is in Lamar?

I mean our view is probably a little jaded because this is the team we know like the back of our hand. Statistics show most teams are significantly worse and the teams near us in the rankings are the ones always in the hunt.

Don't disagree. It's just outside of the Rams, who's even been able to win if not KC or Brady? Teams paying their QB just have such a hard time winning. Rams had to give up so much capital to win it all.

his cap hit goes up by 10m next year, that's not that drastic at all
the year after it goes up massively, but that will either be spread out with an extension or by restructuring and adding void years - and by then we might also be looking at a base salary cap number of 300m anyway...

on the other side of things, look at how the roster is currently constructed and point to the construction problems we have to overcome... we get year 4 of the incredible 2022 draft class in 2025 and the cornerstone members of that class may well be re-signed and stick around

assuming they re-sign Stanley (seems likely with the way he's played), your QB, OTs, C, WRs, TEs are all looking great for 2025 and in many cases through 2026 too... your 1 issue is guards but we can find guards

on defence we're probably about to go through a bit of a transition but with some fundamental cornerstones in place and some promising young talent that's already ascending - edge is a problem for sure looking forwards but i imagine we may be investing some capital in that position over the next couple of years...

we've drafted really well, no reason to think that can't continue...

Got gifted Luxury box tickets for Bengals chargers last night and rams eagles next sunday at Sofi through some friends. incredible stadium, probably 50% bengals game. fun watch. Ill also be attending Ravens Chargers Monday making that 3 primetime Sofi games in 8 days... I'v only been to Sofi one total before this.

I'll start to take a look at the expiring contracts and stuff soon. Based on what you're saying maybe next year is the last year "with things as we've known them" before big changes.
