The Defence, the Offence, and the Tucker

What else could it be? We was active and healthy. And Rashod got hurt. Plus he's played in every game since he's been here.
My guy hasn’t been able to confirm 100%, but sounds like DJ was a decent bit late to the game today and may have been punished accordingly.

Just a forewarning, but do not discuss politics in these threads. I think we have an old politics thread if you really want to dig it up, but this is for football, not for a topic as divisive as politics. It doesn't lead to anything friendly.

Since the sabbatical has been broken…

I still think we’re a good team and all it’s going to take is putting the pieces together to make a run. It’s far from perfect, but this is still a team with the talent to win big games. It’s sucked that we can’t put together both sides of the ball at the same time, but we know both sides can play well.

The ST play is just putrid though. Ignoring the kicking issues, coverage units are leaky as can be. Tylan was an absolute mess in the return game today. Ali provided a little spark in the kick return game, but that’s still largely an irrelevant play.

My biggest issue with the team however is that we do not seem mentally tough. Mistakes after mistakes today - it’s a wonder the score wasn’t worse. Inopportune penalties and mistakes are what this team is known for. To me, that’s the biggest hump to hurdle. If we can cut down on beating ourselves, there’s not a team out there that can walk all over us.

Idk anything but why would Harbs say he's willing to comment but doesn't have the info? Wouldn't it be him dolling out said punishment?

One player that I haven't seen discussed (and maybe I'm just not around enough) is Nnamdi Madubuike.

All last season and all offseason, I said I would not sign him to a massive contract and that I'd rather not even franchise him, but franchising was preferential to signing him longterm after one good year. I wanted to see Madubuike outside of MacDonald's scheme because just about everyone had a career year last year. I did not think the production was sustainable and outside of the box score, he wasn't overly impressive.

Well, it's only year one, but Madubuike has been disappointing. He is making the second highest AAV of any Raven and is making the most on the defensive side of the ball. He needs to step up majorly and start consistently producing.

I don't disagree with him being a disappointment. I was of the mindset that with Mads seemingly getting better every year including his contract year, I would've been shocked if he wasn't a Raven this year onward. I may have not said it in this forum, but I have no regrets signing him. I'd rather deal with the risk of him underperforming than not paying and he beasts somewhere else.

To me, we need edge rusher because Ojabo is now a mythical creature. I remember seeing him earlier on this season, but I'm wondering if my mind was playing tricks on me or not.

He has 9 games without a sack....I know that does not tell the whole story but even one on one today he was bottled up. He had a few good plays but mostly held in check.

Forgotten in the ST fiasco is that Stout had at least two shite punts again.

I am not nearly as upset as the rest of you. We outgained the Eagles by almost 50% in yards. We held their passing game to 112 yards. This should be enough to win most weeks. ST cost us field position in punting returning and missing kicks. While ST has sucked all year, it will not be this bad again

Chris Horton: Hold my beer.

Finally got a chance to watch the condensed game:
1. It’s time for Tuck to go. Not sure if it’s physical or mental , but there are better options( statistically) waiting on a try out.
2. I thought Lamar was pretty average today, stats looked good, but his play was ok. Took a terrible sack that took us out of Tuckers now limited range. Eagles dominated Lamar and Henry after that 9-0 start.
3. We got bullied by the Eagles on both sides of the ball. So soft on both sides of the ball. Hard to believe this is a Baltimore Ravens squad
4. For once I can’t blame Harbs , this loss is all on the players. So soft

Those missed field goals and extra points are game changers. They flip momentum and give the other team great field position. It was demoralizing watching it, so I can just imagine what was in the minds of our Players. Players are not as tight playing from a lead or Tucker put us down two score late in the fourth quarter. IMHO, this loss and the Steelers game is squarely on Tucker. He has to go.

"Justin Tucker has been put on injured reserve (peg leg)"

The Steelers is still tougher to swallow because with the points we didn't get on FG's we win that in Conference and Divisional game. A much bigger deal in the standings. The worst part of the misses yesterday was indeed the momentum and field position we gave up.

I don't think there's anyway Tucker gets shown the door, but there has to be an alternate in the wings. This can't continue. It has to be crushing to him and while sad and understandable, we are playing to win a game not nursing a player or ego thru a rough spot. We can try to do that in the off-season.

It's hugely problematic to sign him to the second biggest cap hit on the team and then have him underperform this way.

I think four of the five top contracts on the team are on the defense. Obviously Lamar is one, but then there's Roquan, Madubuike, Williams, and Humphrey, not in that order.

The offensive line had to go budget as hell because of contracts like the above and Stanley is a FA next year and I'm not sure the Ravens can fix this offensive line next year due to contracts like the above.

Mark Andrews had one of his best games of the season,
Isaiah Likely is underused and it pisses me off. Whenever Lamar gets to play backyard ball with him like the end of the game its magic. he should get targets over nelson.
Regarding Likely, something just looked off last night. There was obviously the flattening of a route he should have carried upfield, but then there was a play where he completely stood there instead of blocking and started to walk off with the play still going and then he trotted off gingerly after a drop.

He had the touchdown and that crazy catch that ended up being out of bounds, but it felt like a very rollercoaster night for him.
