The last time Washington won 11 games was 8 years prior to Snyder buying the Redskins (1991) and in that season they won the Super Bowl. Rypien was only sacked 9 times all season. The 1991 Redskins won the first 11 games enroute to going 14-2 (resting starters in the final game). Their first 3 home games were shutouts.

yeah it's about option value

holding also likely means that OL is getting beaten, the defence might be able to get a sack which would result in negative yardage and also a loss of down (whereas holding replays the down)
