Next Up: vs Steelers (Wild Card Round)

Not that it should be ultra surprising, but got word tonight that the Ravens are planning for Zay to be out on Saturday. Not sure how they'll designate him and play the 'will he or won't he' game, but not expected to play barring something miraculous/Zay pushing hard for it.

Man a lot of talk on here and Twitter that Lamar’s previous playoff struggles are irrelevant… apparently all that matters is one good and one bad game last year .. not so sure about that. Regular season Lamar I have 100% confidence in, playoff Lamar? Just not there yet. I want to see this dude really prove it vs this Steelers team. Leave no doubt Lamar

I’m right there with ya man. I have no faith, and I won’t until I see it happen.

If the offense turns the ball over early in the 1Q, I'm immediately gonna be thinking divisional round vs. Titans 2.0.

We WILL NOT win this game if we lose the turnover battle.

Yep. we need to see MVP Lamar in the tournament, not also ran Lamar.

I think it’s important also to say these losses are not on Lamar specifically. It’s a GD team game… but you know how it is QBs get too much love and hate depending on how the game goes. He is also looked at differently becuase he is basically Superman in the regular season, very mannning like so the bar is set high

Doesn't need to be superman. Play smart, execute and take care of the ball.

No hero ball, just be the best version of his normal self and we will be fine

So what’s John’s job if he sees something isn’t working?
I’m sure Tank would love to give Harbaugh some kind of a job

Thank you. Hear anything about a return for the Divisional if we advance?

And that's why I was talking about the offense as a whole in my post. Tipped passes, drops, fumbles. A combination that typically happens when we play them.

Most of the games people judge him off of are from 2021 and prior. His run last year was mixed and even in the bad game we should have been down 3 with 14:50 left in the 4th. He's shown improvement each year. No reason to believe that halts now. To me, the most inconsistent piece in the playoffs has been the OL, even acknowledging he hasn't been at his best.

Maybe yall will disagree, but I don't think the HC should be doing tons on gameday. The HC selects coordinators and position coaches in the offseason. Its during that time the HC and GM and coordinators make their plans. The HC sets the vision for the coordinators to bring to life. During the offseason, when things don't look as they're supposed to, the HC does what he needs to correct things. During the early the part of the season, when things are still being worked out, on non-gamedays, the HC weighs in on the direction the team needs to go to improve.

With all that being said, on gameday, the HC needs to let his coordinators and position coaches do their job. If the HC were to start doing those jobs, then what was the point of filling those roles with other people in the first place? A football team is enormous and highly complex. That's why there are a lot of coaches to manage one.

On gameday, a HC needs to be assessing the game as a whole. Where are we on the scoreboard? Given how we're moving the ball, at what yard line and distance do 4th downs become viable? Based on how the defense is playing, is taking the punt most responsible? Do we take the FG? Can we trust the FG kicker? They also have to be a good manager of clock. That alone is something that can win and lose games. If the HC is doing everyone else's job, they're not doing their one. And obviously finally, performance challenges and generally dealing/manipulating the refs.

Ultimately, that's how I see it. I don't wanna see Harbs calling 4th down plays. That's Monkens job (although he's been shit at it). I want John to do his job and quite frankly he's not even that good at just those responsibilities. I don't think many would say he's a savvy time out, or challenge guy.

he's been bad with challenges

but generally he's been pretty great with clock management for a while now
