2025 Offseason Thread

which is why i've landed on 6 OLBs after that first preseason game, they all have way too much talent to offer to just give up on and clearly both isaac and ojabo are above replacement level

and with their pedigree, more likely someone will actually claim those guys

whereas the random late day 3/udfa guys who are mostly playing in the 2nd halves of preseason games are not going to get claimed, and if they do... honestly who cares...
That’s where I’m with you. The only bubble guy I have slight concerns about is Okoye, and that’s largely because I’m trying to put myself in a DL coach’s shoes and it’s a dream to work with a guy like that.

for sure

but also another team has to think he's ready right now because you have to put him on the 53 if you claim him

but maybe he's the guy who benefits from a Likely spell on I/R if that is the case...

Alright so that leaves it with the following that seem like locks or close to it now…

QB (2): Jackson, Rush
RB (4): Henry, Hill, Mitchell, Ali
FB (1): Ricard
WR (6): Flowers, Bateman, Hopkins, Walker, Wallace, Wester
TE (2): Andrews, Kolar
OL (9): Stanley, Vorhees, Linderbaum, Faalele, Rosengarten, Noteboom, Cleveland, Bullock, Vinson
DL (5): Madubuike, Jones, Washington, Jenkins, Peebles
ILB (4): Smith, Simpson, Buchanan, Hummel
OLB (5): Van Noy, Oweh, Robinson, Green, Ojabo
CB (6): Humphrey, Wiggins, Alexander, Awuzie, Tampa, Armour-Davis
S (4): Hamilton, Starks, Kane, Lowery
ST (3): Loop, Stout, Moore

That’s 51. Leaves 2 spots open for guys like Likely (if they don’t want to go the IR route), Kirkwood, Dellinger, Samac, Urban, Ravenell, Higgins, Brade.

Is Isaac to IR?

I don’t know what’s gotten into Harbaugh but he’s throwing confirmations out tonight, either directly or indirectly.

Ali is making it. Loop is the kicker. Effusive praise of Bullock and Lowery.

tbh the biggest confirmation of everything you were saying they think about lowery was how harbs and orr reacted to that INT - both congratulating each other almost like they had just confirmed everything they thought

Based on that game and with the Isaac injury, feels pretty clearcut now

Notably Lowery was on at least one of the first special teams units this week with most of the usual suspects including Brade (as was kirkwood again...)

I'm at the same number as you - 52 locks/near locks (if you include likely)

Looks to me like Dellinger's gonna be OL10 but idk that OL10 is making this roster - think they'll be happy to have whoever of Dellinger, Samac, Dalcourt, Christian-Lichtenhan they can get through waivers
Urban's almost certainly got a handshake PS deal
i dont think ravenell showed anywhere near enough to occupy a valuable 53 man spot
Higgins doesnt play special teams and didn't enter until the 2nd half again and played exclusively with chandler martin at the other LB spot

and at this point it seems like the last spot is most likely a special teams spot now:
WR Keith Kirkwood
LB William Kwenkeu
S Beau Brade

Think the last guys off who just miss out are Keyon Martin (seems to be both the next man up at DB and on special teams) and Garrett Dellinger (next man up at OL)

It was another great showing from the rookie class

Starks looked really comfortable out there

Green stacked some more impressive rushes

Buchanan had an awesome game - impressive reading his keys, showed great range and instincts in coverage

Vinson had 1 awful rep but also showed off all the reasons the Warhop and the ravens are excited by him - demonstrated decent processing, great natural flexibility, bend and functional strength along with good movement skills - footwork and punch technique especially need rebuilding - but he's been getting better with every snap and has every physical trait you would want in a developmental guy: aggressive mentality, power and grip strength, foot quickness, length and bend and you get to see all those traits in this game

Loop had 1 miss but nailed 2 50+ yarders and all the gimmes

Wester had a bad game as a WR and no opportunities as a returner but showed good hands and instincts catching punts at least

Peebles had a blinder! Lots of pressures and pass rush wins - winning with initial quickness, relentless effort and effective counters

Dellinger managed to get himself an earlier entry into the game and came in with the first group of backups this week on the 3rd drive and played the whole rest of the game at LG (also interestingly puts Cleveland back at RG, which if it hadn't already, confirmed that the LG battle is over) - didn't see a ton to get excited about, saw more of the non-athletic looking game tape vs the dynamic looking athletic testing scores leading to generally poor sustain on blocks even when he won the initial contact phase

Lowery came in on the 3rd drive and clearly is ahead of Brade at S4 which should be enough to get him on the 53 even if he's not a primary special teamer - the INT was a gimme but showed good ball tracking, and he shows good transition quickness out of his drops and looked sound as a deep safety

Keyon Martin has been the big surprise - has grabbed hold of the opportunity opened up by Kone's injury last week - looked great starting in the nickel, had impactful plays including for the safety (obviously) but also in coverage and was the first guy to come in as a replacement on special teams - if Lowery's basically a lock to make the roster now, Martin's my trendy pick to sneak in

Jay Higgins had another big turnover - seems like he's ahead of Chandler Martin but neither of them look like a threat to make the 53 given how late they're entering the game and the fact that neither are factoring into special teams at all - both would be fine options for the PS

Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan and Kaimon Rucker both seem like guys who could be good PS options

in terms of on-field performance, the standouts from last night were Green, Buchanan, Peebles and Martin

I’ll have to see what info I can get on Keyon Martin. He wasn’t mentioned literally at all in my convo the other night. His usage definitely has me questioning where he’s at in the pecking order.

I find it hard to compare them. One is playing exclusively outside and one is playing almost exclusively in the slot.
Yeah but that's not important. I saw Tampa get taken advantage of last week (gave up about 6 catches) and had one play down field where he looked totally lost. Then this week although a better game (however Cowboys were inept) he gave up another huge play down field with no awareness. He doesn't seem athletic at all.

Martin on the other hand was just an animal all over the place

I think it’s a very important distinction. They aren’t playing the same roles at all.

Last game was certainly a struggle but I’m not mad at the play from Tampa last night at all. He was in position. Sometimes the other team just makes a play.
