We need playmakers on defence

Not just solid guys who can be solid

Need a game wrecker off the edge - someone who can turn this from a good defence to an opportunistic one

Good qbs don’t throw many INTs, so got to force sacks and fumbles
That's what im thinking too. We need a game wrecker but im not sure how that's going to happen. We just don't have the cap space for someone. I think if a good edge player is there they'll draft one early, but hanging your head on the draft is not going to solve your problems. They need a proven guy there.

Considering how many loses we had in the offseason and how terribly we started this was an overall good year.

The Ojabo experiment is over as far as I’m concerned. The guy can’t even play.

Got to figure out what to do with Marcus, is there anything in there anymore? He forced Orr to move Kyle out of position to stop the bleeding.

Stephens has to go or at least get moved down and replaced by someone else.

Orr improved and after making the safety adjustments the defense settled in nicely.

it is such an ironic issue that Myles Garrett, Trey Hendrickson, and (maybe but probably not) Tj watt could be on the move this offseason. No chance they'd trade in division but there aren't many other players out there worthy of what we need at edge.

I really loved T Robinson today & going forward. Just such a dominate human who plays smart

Man I wish we could get Parsons.. maybe the cowboys are dumb enough?

Trade andrews, extend Likely

Trade for/sign a top edge rusher, late first round gonna be a shithole this year anyway.

Draft a true Guard
i was going to say the same thing.

I would trade Andrews and it’s not an overreaction to this game or previous games. Mark is a good guy, player, and has been a great player for us; however, I’m seeing a more complete picture with Likely. I think he will be and may already be the better player. Now Mark has done well converting those 4th and 1 tush push for us this year so don’t discount that but for many reasons I think it’s time to go. Get something for him while you can and draft a replacement. Extend Likely and you will continue to have good stuff.

Andrews took a long time to get going this year after his injury last year, he is a ticking time bomb in that regard and I don’t wanna miss the boat for a guy who shrinks smaller than anyone on the team in big games.

I always said he was our 2nd most important player, but that was before he completely confirmed the idea that he chokes. Him and Lamar had some telepathic communication shit going on in the Roman offense, it’s not the same in the monken offense, and for both Roman and monken Andrews has shit the bed in major games. Likely has looked like the better player for 2 straight years now.

maxx crosby feels like the only option as a premium guy you could go after

looking at this draft class, this might be the year to give up picks for high quality vets

So top needs for this team taking a different approach

1. Apply pressure with 4 man rush
2. Force turnovers
3. Get to QB without blitz
4. Replace Marcus Williams
5. Replace Stanley at LT (could be by re-signing him)
6. Replace Mekari at LG
7. Recover turnovers
8. Identify legit RS
9. Fix special teams
10. Yearly addition of new weapon for Lamar
11. Get clutch players
12. Eliminate pre-snap penalties
13. Replace Brandon Stephens

I think everything hinges on what happens with Stanley. If you can keep him, fine. If you can't, it changes everything. You either have to sign a veteran, use a 1st rounder on a guy (that may require a trade-up), or move Rosengarten to LT and draft another OT before end of day 2.

Offensively its Oline and depth at WR.

Defensively honestly they could take guys at every level and it wouldn't surprise me. We'll need more Corner depth when we lose Stephens, we have zero depth (and maybe want a starter) at Safety, we obviously need pass rush help, and I think ILB is interesting, given how quickly Simpson's playing time plummeted.

One of the few years where I don't see like a massive glaring weakness that's being exposed by other teams that we just overcome. I think this was truly one of the years where it was some of your "high end" players that simply let us down in critical spots in multiple "big" games.

I suspect we would move Rosengarten to LT in that scenario if it plays out where Stanley leaves.

Agreed regarding no real true massive weakness. We mostly have areas we need to address but we have solutions everywhere. Whether those are legit solutions or not remains to be seen. I wouldn’t count out some of our developmental OL taken last year either.

In terms of players we really do just need some clutch players who show up in big games and play big. That’s really what we are missing. We have them but just not consistently.

Have to think Marcus Williams gets cut, what are savings looking like with him?

Stanley seems like the big free agent, had a healthy year and played well, probably will have a healthy market. I do agree that safety and trenches seem like the areas to invest in. Maybe another corner as the 3rd guy
they already restructured his contract so he absolutely be cut. We save 10m right away and then another 2m on June 2. with dead cap in 2025 (6.7m) and 2026 (6.7m)

with no other major free agents to deal with this offseason i'd be so surprised if we didnt re-up with Stanley

creates such a massive hole and turns what could be a strength in 2025 into a massive question mark

I’d think the same but hey you can never say never.

Regarding the need for OLBs:
let me preface with saying that I do indeed understand that sacks is just one stat and doesn't tell the whole story.

But, this team finished 2nd in sacks in the league, so I wouldn't be so sure that a big name passrusher would have made a huge difference when we can make do with Van Noy who outpaced Watt in sacks and wasn't far off Garret either. I think the scheme has proven to work pretty well with budget rushers as long as we have a strong interior push.

...and that said, I agree that we need to restock the position due to age (Van Noy), draft misses (Ojabo), impending contract cost (Oweh) and "we just don't know if there's anything there" (Isaac). But I don't think a big name there will give as much of a return on investment as it would be to help on the o-line or in the secondary.

Depends on what he'll be asking for. If I was Stanley, I'd make sure to get every last dime out of the Ravens because of the paycut last year, and there's of course some point where you have to risk him on the open market. All depends on what he wants.

I might consider the transition tag on him so you can gauge his market value and match if it doesn't get out of hand. Again depending on what his agent is going for.

first blush thoughts

Upgrade EDGE - find a playmaker somehow

Re-sign Ronnie

Upgrade LG

Upgrade WR3

Add a boundary CB

Add a deep FS

Extend humphrey
Extend andrews
Cut MW
Wait rossi why do you want to extend Mark? If anything I’d give him one more year and then cut/trade him and extend Likely after next season

I also think we need a better WR3 because Nelly ain’t it. Watching Robinson’s solid play for the Rams has me wishing we would have kept him but whatever. Granted he’s also a free agent. I wouldn’t mind a reunion with Hollywood, or paying more for Godwin. Zay and Bate on the outside with Godwin in the slot would feed families. Or if you want a field stretcher on the outside, someone like Slayton or MVS could suffice with Zay in the slot. I also like Tim Patrick.

Edit - just saw Nelly is a FA

Oh, and do whatever the fuck you need to do to acquire Maxx.
