2025 Offseason Thread

DL (4)
Nnamdi, Travis, Brent, Broddy

EDGE (5)
Odafe, David, Kyle, Tavius, Adisa

IlB (3)
Roaquan, Trenton, Jake

CB (5)
Marlon, Nate, Chidobe, JAD, and TJ

S (4)
Kyle, Malaki, Ardarius, and Sanousi/Beau

So like 4 spots on defense.

7 total spots where they are not small needs imo

I thought there was a possibility that one of the LB's picked would drop, but it's funny how S just doesn't seem to be valued like CB or Edge or DT; similar to TE's vs. WR's. Starks is gonna fit great. I'd still like to see a true LB drafted that isn't lost when it comes to coverage on pass plays. That would really make the back 2/3 super solid. A little pass rush or line disruption has to be on the menu sometime in this draft too.

How many roster spots are even legitimately open?

QB (2)
Lamar and Cooper Rush

RB (4)
Derrick, Justice, Keaton, Rasheen or draft pick

FB (1)
Ricard

TE (3)
Mark, Isaiah and Charlie

OL (7)
Ronnie, Andrew, Tyler, Daniel, Roger, Ben, and Nick.

WR (5)
Zay, Rashod, DeAndre, Tylan, and Tez

Seems like 3 spots on offense

DL (4)
Nnamdi, Travis, Brent, Broddy

EDGE (5)
Odafe, David, Kyle, Tavius, Adisa

IlB (3)
Roaquan, Trenton, Jake

CB (5)
Marlon, Nate, Chidobe, JAD, and TJ

S (4)

It’s not a lot but…

Could add a late round WR
Could add a TE for next year
Probably need 2 OL
Brent is still a FA so 2-3 DL
Could try to improve at Edge
Need another ILB
Probably adding another CB or 2

I do know they have a couple of vets in the back pocket to fill some spots too.

you have to consider the future as well. None of our TEs are currently under contract for next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft a TE on day 2.

there's no way they don't pick a LB somewhere... the questions is only how high...

Feel pretty good about the roster post draft. Think we should be adding 1 or 2 DL for sure in the next month or two. Would also still be interested in a veteran OL that doesn't come with guarantees - let the young guys fight but have some experience as an option. Think I'm good everywhere else as of now.

EDC's already acknowledged in his post draft presser that they'll be looking to add a run-stuffing DT or two

after taking 3 OL, i think i'd be comfortable seeing those guys get the chance to develop and maybe look at veterans later

I like the First 3 picks

Our day 3 looks like a complete disaster.

If Mike green ends up in trouble, this draft will probably go down as the worst of EDC’s career. This day 3 looks as bad as 2019 day 3.

To hell with scouts day. Take ownership of your shit decisions, sack tf up and draft some DTs in the deepest DT class I think I’ve ever seen. We need em, they’re available, and we’re passing.

To be clear on the veteran OL front, I'm talking like a Michael Schofield from a couple of years back. Someone that you don't want on the roster but someone that can at least work in and develop some chemistry if the young guys can't hack it.

My early favorite of this draft class:

that feels like a massive overreaction lol

we got a nice mixture of obvious contributors, high ceiling prospects and developmental guys

Emery Jones was probably my least favourite pick

Not picking Mbow, Farmer and Phillips probably my biggest regrets

but Peebles was a steal where we got him
Vinson's a great developmental talent
looks like Buchanan, Kone and Longerbeam have the traits to be factors in the future

I think on reflection you'll think it's a bit better than a disaster. However I def agree that wasn't what I was expecting from us generally.

Separately, I too believe the "scouts day" thing is BS and he should do his job. I think it just makes him look less bad when they don't pan out and he gets to say we have such a good process when they do. Recently though, it's been a whole lotta nothin.

when has he ever used "scouts day" as an excuse?
he's only ever used it as a way of giving credit to the scouts

when has EDC ever not taken responsibility?

He's certainly never said it explicitly. I wasn't trying to imply that at all.

But you hit the other side. He's complimentary when it works. I'm stating that it therefore follows, that when they don't pan out, it's not his fault.

I just don't like the concept of him giving that much power away on day 3. He obviously does and he's the GM. So that's all that matters lol

I think you're misunderstanding how it works. It's not like we're out there picking guys regardless of grade because a scout likes a guy. It's an open invitation to pound the table for a guy you believe in as they reach a range where it makes sense to take them.

it's not like they spend a year researching and grading and interviewing the prospects to build a board only to then completely ignore that hard-won sequence on day 3 because it's "scouts day" lol
