2025 Offseason Thread

I can't see us keeping 6 EDGEs with the way the roster is
I could very easily see us keeping Hummel as well as a udfa LB if they like them enough

DB is really interesting, i think we might be looking at 11 DBs at a minimum with another 2 guys who could reasonably make the roster - or it could be a straight up battle for DB11 (i've got brade, lowery and longerbeam battling for that DB11 right now) - i don't see JAD not making this roster

Wester's almost certainly only WR6 for return stuff, if he's not winning the return battle, i doubt he wins the WR battle

with OL, i think the most likely scenario is Cleveland gets a suspension and they keep 10 other guys on the initial 53 - and it's the 4 guys you mention fighting for the last 2 spots: samac, dellinger, dalcourt and bullock - signs point to jones being ready to start practising in training camp at some point, that he's probably in line for a red-shirt season that might include a lot of riding the inactives list
It may be bullshit but wester has been generating a lot of buzz from minicamp reports

Matter of fact the 2 guys I’ve heard the most buzz about is wester and tez walker. Could be our old ravens dna showing and we just can’t help but hype wrs in the offseason, but it’s been a very noticeable trend to me when listening to really anyone report on ravens minicamps

I like the prospect of Wester but if he’s getting meaningful WR snaps then something has gone very wrong.
It's possible he emerges from camp as the WR4. Tylan and Tez haven't done enough so far to rule him out of that. Possibly they could also give him some of the gadgety snaps and pre-snap motion stuff they've been giving to Zay.

Not until at, or near, his suspension ending.

There will 100% be teams trying him out mid-season if their kickers suck, and wouldn't be surprised if he signed then. But I think most likely scenario is he sits out the whole year and tries again next offseason.

This probably makes the most sense. You don't want to come in at the end of the season when kicks matter more having to deal with the fans and players trying to get in his head. Sit the year and come back, working your way onto a team seems most plausible.

Why do I have a feeling we’re not gonna sign Lindy to an extension

Respectfully, I would be floored if Wester is anything more than a PR with some gadget plays every now and then

Why so? Wester looked waaay better than duv and proche and we gave them lots of reps.. maybe not his rookie year but looks much more than just a gadget player to me.
Based on what? The college tape? It looks good in college but I struggled to find a lot that translates. Going to get absolutely manhandled in any sort of press, and the hands and catch radius are both well below average. They had to scheme a lot of open releases for him. I don’t think he gets drafted at all if it’s not for the return ability.

the 2 most hyped camp report WRs have been tez walker and dayton wade

tez walker hype feels like it could be boykin-esque... dominating against 2s and 3s without contact is great but we'll see if it actually translates when the pads come on

and this is the phase of the offseason when small shifty WRs always flash... for obvious reasons

WRs are always the stars of the show in the offseason before training camp... and then every year we get to training camp and hear about the defence dominating the whole first week because they finally get to be competitive

camp reports have been far more positive for Tez than any of the other WRs...

wasnt a draftable WR for me either
notable that in the post-draft presser they mostly talked about his return ability and that they've been looking for a returner for a while and that chris horton was a big fan of him

which tells you everything about why they valued him there, nothing to do with him being a WR

If we kept duvernay who looked like shit since the senior bowl reps, wester should be a lock

we had a terrible WR corps while duvernay was here
and duvernay had much better college tape than wester, played at a bigger program, ran a 4.39, was bigger, more explosive and even outdid wester in the agility drills

and then he became a pro bowl kick returner

of course duv was getting kept, the only question with duvernay was how high he'd be in the WR depth chart... not whether he'd be on the 53

duv was terrible at wr in college, im sorry. After i seen his senior bowl reps and he couldnt get open 1vs1, its no way we thought his tape was good. Didnt even like him at kr… only could run in a straight line so i dnt really think the agility drills matter. im not saying wester should be some starter, im simply saying if we gave duv some wr reps, and is considering giving wester some, it should be more than just gadget reps cause duv was not good in anyway to me.

Doesnt zay and him have similar arm length and wingspan? Yea zay is much better but im sure their catch radius are similar just like all 5”9 guys.. im not saying he should start for us but id like to see him get some wr reps. Shit tylan wallace hasnt done shit at wr for us regardless of how much we try to hype him up and he still get reps every so often.

Zay and Wester aren’t even close in their ability to play in traffic. Night and day.
