I know there’s lots of pull for Higgins but Keyon Martin reminds me of Michael pierce’s preseason as a udfa all those years ago

Played too well and made too many splash plays to be ignored

If it’s between Martin and Higgins, I want Martin!
Michael Pierce is the rare guy that won a job based on preseason play alone. They were going to cut him but knew after game 4 they couldn’t.

I'd drop Simpson for Higgins. Give me a guy with instinct and angles over an athlete any day of the week. Simpson isn't getting on the field much anyway. Lost cause.

I don’t think Higgins is close to the player Simpson is… and that’s not a good thing for Higgins.

simpson has also been fine
not been as bad as it seems when we're catastrophising about the position
just disappointing that he's not absolutely dominating 2nd and 3rd teamers

i've still seen nothing with higgins that suggests he should make this team
he's doing well against 3rd string guys but notably has not moved up the depth chart (and this final preseason game is exactly the time when they should be handing the defence over to those kinds of guys and they didnt)

I'm with you.

Simpson has been good enough. Maybe not exactly where they hoped he'd be by now but he can play a role.

Buchanan looks to have a nice future ahead of him now that he's settled in a bit. Needs a little work on coverage responsibilities but IQ and movement stand out. Looks pretty far along for a rookie.

Hummel is here for ST reasons and got to wear street clothes today because of that.

I don't hate Higgins but I just don't see the same as others do. Props to him for making a couple of plays but the athleticism is not great at all and I feel like that would be a lot more apparent against actual NFL level players instead of the types he went up against.

And yeah you could keep 5, but why? People all up in arms about a 4th RB but what is a 5th LB going to do?

I can’t imagine Martin doesn’t make this team. We value db too highly and he’s been clearly the standout player. Definitely similar to Pierces preseason, kinda making it an obvious decision for the coaches.

i just think the big higgins advocates are buying too much into plays in the 4th quarters of preseason against 3rd string offences
instincts do translate, but range and play-speed don't translate

but the Ali vs Higgins thing is especially silly because Ali looks like he's the prime candidate to be the primary kick returner as well as a key special teamer in punt units (as a non-returner) and higgins doesnt factor into special teams at all...

also, purely on a talent basis, Ali is far more of a talent than Higgins - he was drafted for a reason, higgins was undrafted for a reason and it's not because he was a small school guy

I didn't get to hear it live and it might be coach speak, but heard that Harbaugh lumped Brade in with Kane and Lowery when talking about the S room.

One fun thing my guy told me the other day is that the Ravens think it's actually best to cut guys now. They feel it's much easier to sneak guys through when there are literal hundreds of other names on the list and in turn, a bunch of alternative options. Doing the whole handshake thing to keep a guy for a few weeks just delays the inevitable and puts more emphasis if/when they're waived, with only a few names max on the waiver wire at that point. The weird "hope" is that there's an injury and the problems solves itself. They might do it with a guy or two but don't expect them to wholesale go out there and keep all of these guys just to keep them. If they don't think they can contribute off the cuff, they're getting waived in the next few days.

If this preseason means anything for monken, then I think he’s about to have this run game fine tuned to make it something seriously special.

He took a year tinkering with Henry and Lamar, but he has something that looks special with how he attacks the edges in the run game and spreads the defense laterally to make big gaps. I’ve loved what I’ve seen from the run game design this whole preseason, I loved what I saw from justice hill last year, and I believe if we lean on the run game and just save Lamar for when we need him to be Lamar, then we will be hard to stop, we might have 3 backs that can take over games and then Lamar, and monken who’s historically a 3-5 wide kinda guy has made the adjustment to call a punishing and consistent run game.

JAD and keion martin look nice, tj Tampa does not.

Carson Vinson has major potential, he doesn’t look like a project guy who doesn’t belong, he looks like he absolutely can play in the nfl, haven’t seen enough reps to really show his rawness so idk really, but I think he can be a dude in a few years, might legitimately be a long term solution to replace Ronnie.

Ima have faith in loop.

I wonder if ojabo might do something this year, I don’t expect much and disappointed that he didn’t dominate vs non nfl players, but he also flashes.

Aeneas pebbles is gonna be a long term player here I think.

I agree with all that but Ojabo is cooked

From HBCU to baldys breakdown! He officially made it

watching this and idk what baldy's talking about on half of these lol

technique is still not great

but he's improving, and the physical tools are evident on every rep (length, bend, footwork, power, finish)

I do think it’s cool that we all thought it would be a struggle for a udfa to make it this year, and in the end we might have 2 + a udfa from last year on the initial 53

I came in thinking this might be the best version of the run game we've seen, which is saying something. After seeing the defense know Rush is going to just hand the ball off and being unable to stop it... We could see defenders folding in the 3rd.
