The Random Thought Thread

I only have two legit concerns about the team.. They're big concerns but only two nonetheless.

1. Lack of a starting C.. Skura sucks. Plain and simple. Can't anchor, not a smart player. I would rather start Lewis and believe that Skura is bad enough to cost us games.

2. Run defense. We are a lot faster.. Run defense is still bad. Kenny Young is a lousy run defender, and yes he is. He's solid in pass coverage. We desperately need a full time running mate for CJ mosley. People telling me "it'll be fine"... If you can't defend the run you can't defend. We need a guy who can do well against the run. Again, the dline last season wasn't the issue. Big problem is that our ILB #2 was a liability. Peanut isn't good at all, and Young is one dimensional. I would still find/hope for a thumper.

Those are two big holes. We solve both of those problems, we're a super bowl contender.

WLB is definitely a hole but I’m not sure there’s any evidence to suggest we’ll struggle to stop the run

Our DL is still awesome at stuffing the run and plugging the gaps and our edge defenders are so much better this year than last year

So much of the run production against us last year stemmed from our OLBs - Suggs is still Suggs but Judon looks to be playing well against the run now too and Timmy Williams of all people has learned to set the edge and play the run too - I still worry about contain if Tyus or ZDS are in the game but our situation is much better than last year where we’re gonna expect ZDS to set the edge and rush the middle every other snap

So WLB to me is not gonna hugely impact our run defence unless they are absolutely horrible at it or absolutely incredible at it- and I’m afraid all offseason evidence suggests Kenny young is not horrible at it
 
so all it took was an endorsement by nike for the NFL to get on board.. the same company that makes military boots... America is crazy

I think the NFL, especially its execs, was on board the whole time. It's the owners who wanted to change things up as evidenced by Jerry Jones and Bob McNair.
 
If Hurst is starting at RT we will miss the playoffs again and Harbaugh should be fired on the spot and everyone excluding Roman and Wink can go with him.

I pray that Hurst isn't the one starting at RT. He was a true turnstile and then it would make drafting Brown nonsensical.

Yea I can understand putting him at guard he wasn’t great but he wasn’t the worst option in the league (probably jermaine) putting him at rt is straight stupid he has no mobility
 
I think Hurst at LG isn't a bad option. If he is put at tackle again this team is SOL. To me I think the best o-line combination the team has would be from left to right Stanley-Yanda-Lewis-Hurst-Brown Jr. But the team has a history of giving their rookies the start right away. Would not surprise me if the o-line struggled right away and the Bills have an okay defense. The team could struggle early out of the gate and that scares the crap out of me. With all the new pieces coming together let's hope they mesh fast and the team gives the best players the start instead of strictly playing veterans. I would rather see Zeus Jr. have a couple up and down games to start the season and give him playing time to improve rather than going with Hurst who will likely never be an average tackle in this league.

Anyone else loving the Steelers/Leveon Bell saga? Its gotten pretty toxic. I personally think Bell converts to WR to preserve his career and chase bigger paydays, no back can survive 400 touches year after year after year without wearing down, if the Steeler arent paying him he needs to get out.

Tbh I’m probably more worried about Skura at C than Hurst at RT. Hurst isn’t a good T by any means but he’s a better player than Skura.

But the fact that we have Brown on the bench pisses me off so it evens out. No way Hurst has earned the right to start over Brown.
