The AJ Green, the Joe Flacco, and the Defense- Week 2 Edition

Also, Alex Collins, 9 carries? Really? I mean I know we fell behind early but when the game got closer we didn't even try to run the ball much with Collins.

we werent really creating many lanes for him and the bengals were prepared for him to bounce it outside and bottled him up
normally id say we should have doubled down once we got the scores closer and established the run but it was never really a realistic goal
that said we did use Collins in the passing game as an extension of the running game - Collins got 90 yards on 12 touches

The Good: No ligament damage
The Bad: The offensive line. Flacco made some nice play under serious harassment. He also had a couple turnovers because of it too. Collins is making something out of nothing. If they gave him some room he’d be dangerous.
The Ugly: Coming out flat as a pancake on both sides of the ball.

Bottom line: Road game, -3 turnover margin = loss.

i think it just further illustrates how if Mosley had not gone down when he did - or not at all then this game probably looks incredibly different
Defense was back to it's normal shutdown self in the second half so yeah, I'd agree. I want us to cut Peanut and sign Bowman. Bowman may be one dimensional but as a rotational piece, I'll take it.

no point cutting peanut - he'll do in a pinch and he knows the system and he's decent at special teams - absolutely no need to cut him - but he shouldnt be starting anymore - and im not sure what bowman offers us schematically

A few notes:
Well Flacco always has at least 2-3 stinkers (one of them being in Cincy).
History repeat itself AGAIN as we have an underwhelming performance on the road in week 2 after a nice performance at home in week 1.
This OL better get its shit together.
Marty needs to GTFO. I'm really getting annoyed with these random ass Lamar Jackson "packages."
Pass-rush let me down BIGLY.
Until further notice, this secondary sans Jimmy Smith ain't much on the road against a decent QB

Per Zrebiec:

"Onwuasor had the helmet with the microphone for the rest of first half after Mosley went down. Switched to Weddle in second half."

which explains everything
Why wouldn't they give it to Weddle in the first place? I know it's not the norm for the S to call the shots on defense but they should have trusted Weddle over Peanut. Besides CJ, Suggs and Weddle would be the only guys that could do it.

And yeah, more than anything, the o-line destroyed any chance we had at a comeback. We need to go back to Stanley-hurst-lewis-yanda-Zeus.

Once the score got closer I felt like Collins really should've been used more as a runner. Even if they plug those lanes a guy like Collins can break tackles or make a play for 5 or more yards. You just don't really know but when your QB throws the ball 55 times then you're making yourself vulnerable for a turnover.

You've been saying that he's not good or are you disagreeing with the idea that he is bad?
I’m president of the I don’t like ZDS club. Just said yesterday on here that everyone is overhyping him again just like last year.

You know what?
I say we blame the uniforms - burn them - and leave it at that...
Agreed.

The good news is I think, none of us are outraging. It was an L but it was an L we should learn from. I still think this is a good team. This won't ruin our season. I still think we come out of the first 4 weeks, 3-1. I think we can beat the Steelers

Sure, we're only 2 games into the new season (that goes without saying) but I'll let all of you cats spin this b.s. we just saw against the Bengals the way that you want to but my reality is that the Ravens were TRASH! Pure trash tonigh! It's just that simple! Typical of their game play after a major win or a blowout.

They are STILL the same inconsistent team that stals and struggles offensively and that can't get any defensive QB pressure to burst grapes. After all the drafting, training and mini camps, OTA's, release, trades, waivers, roster cuts and preseason games, we're STILL witnessing the same old b.s. from this team of seasons past! Regardless of who is on the roster!

I'M SICK OF IT!!!

GO RAVENS!!!

FWIW, if this was a bad game for the offense, then I'll take it. Think about the last two years. When Flacco had a bad game, it was a bad game by any standards. This game he threw for over 350 yards and had some really impressive throws and plays. It's a really disappointing loss but I think the offense will be fine this year. Just need to get the run game going.
