Around the NFL: News and Rumors

The NFL has fired Official Hugo Cruz, who missed a false start in the game between Chargers and Browns. The NFL cites that he was not maintaining a very high level of performance over a sustained period. Of course the NFLRA has come out in defense of Cruz saying this is just another knee jerk reaction the NFL is known for and will challenge this through grievance.

NFL insiders have since suggested that this was a long-term firing situation

It is odd that they didn’t just suspend him until the end of the year and review then and then fire him rather than setting themselves up for criticism for a mid-season firing that’s never happened before (likely the only reason the grievance has legs if it does at all)

they would 100% trade him"
- he's unhappy because 2 of his favourite guys just got traded away
- he's not been nearly as effective as he was in his 2nd year
- he's in the final year of his rookie deal so any trade is an immediate bonus for the giants (especially if they don't expect to retain him at the end of the year)
- the giants want as much draft capital as they can get (probably to go after a qb who might not exist in this draft class)

but im not sure anyone should trade for him for many of those same reasons
Wow, Collins is already in the final year of his rookie deal.

Agree that the giants would like to go after a qb in this class and it may not exist. Far from the class of 2018.

Best bet for Giants is to probably build up thag OLine in 2019 then tank hard as possible for the 1 pick because I am not dure there is a franchise QB in the next draft (been wrong about that b4 though)

And 2020 seems to have some very good options

Four Jacksonville Jaguar players were arrested after a Bar Fight in London about 4:00am London time on Saturday. UK Newspaper says the four players tried to leave without paying. The tab came out to be $64,000 in American Money. The four players arrested were Barry Church, DJ Hayden, Ronnie Harrison & Jarrod Wilson.

Update:

Barry church wasn’t actually arrested and the players were released without charges after the matter was resolved

The fight apparently was more of a skirmish with security when they tried to leave without paying

To those who're getting on Carr for crying, where was that same energy when Vernon Davis was crying after he made "The Catch" in the playoff game against the Saints several years ago?

It was more the timing of the "crying" I think. It seemed like he was more mentally broken than anything because he wasn't injured and it just happened in game. Add that with the mess that is the current Raiders and you have why this even made headlines.

Yeah that makes sense. I'd rather have my players crying than look like they don't give a shit. At the very least, it shows that he cares.

Lol Browns OC Todd Haley could be fired soon because of some dysfunction between him and Hue.

Per Schefter: Browns fired HC Hue Jackson. Fun fact: The last five Browns’ head coaches - Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rod Chudzinski, Mike Pettine - were fired after the second Steelers’ game of that season. Only the browns.

hue wont get the chance to fire todd haley lol... probably the ultimate sting is that todd outlasts him

anyone know who the interim HC is? because it would be even more vindictive if haley takes over as interim HC too

John Dorsey decides that no coach gets to win the power struggle and gets rid of both sides of the toxic coaching battle:

first Hue Jackson is out as HC

and just now Todd Haley has also just been fired as OC
