Lamar Jackson

I’ve never given two shits about QBR. Never cared about Joes. Don’t care about Lamar’s. If he’s winning games he could have a QBR of 2 and I wouldn’t care. You guys are searching for reasons to diss on Lamar and it’s annoying af
The only person I've seen to care about QBR and thinks it's everything in rating QBs is Skip Bayless.
That's really all you need to know about the QBR

Devito I get you are a fanboy of him but saying that there is evidence that he is struggling at the QB part of being a QB is not searching for a reason to criticize its making an observation.

Yes he beat 2 shit teams, they play a 3rd on Sunday, but teams in the NFL don't win consistently running you win passing the ball. This will beat the dregs but the big boys will pound you into the dirt because the NFL has become a passing league and doing it well is essential.

The reason I like it is that it seems to cut thru the oddities that pop up with rating where someone can throw for 250 yards and be near perfect but the guy who threw for 450 is sitting at a 92.

I just find that when I watch a game the QBR seems to jive with how i feel each QB looked in the game. I know its subjective but thats just been my observation

what tells you he's struggling at the qb part of being a qb?
because ive gone back and watched literally every single pass attempt from last week and the week before and he seems to be doing pretty good so far

what's the Ravens record in two games with Lamar's 39 QBR?

Let me make a bet. If Lamars first game was against the Chiefs (a not shit NFL team) and Lamar threw for 450 yards 5tds and no picks but they lost you would be trumpeting those stats and not saying only wins matter.

Struggling might not be perfect word would inconsistent work better? His bad is really bad and his good is exciting but if he is limited to running like he did in 1st half against Oakland I don't see much to tell me can win like that, but if he runs more he will not last the season.

And oddly enough thkeeyup is one of Lamar’s biggest fans and supporters. He also points out his poise and movement and mental agility in the pocket, and his “self preservation gene”. Like literally nobody in the nfl media world notes these things and they all parrot the same “too many runs, he’ll get hurt, one read and run” bs.

Hell, cowherd is Lamar’s biggest hater and he’s been on a tirade to make lamar the starter and seems to also notice some of these same things.

With lamar, it seems that the consensus is that he’s rg3 all over, and these 2 go against the consensus every time they speak, and every now and then the consensus is wrong.

I am fairly sure he's talking Lamar up just so he can prove his own ass right about Fluko

if we look at his really bad then im looking at maybe 3 total plays where he properly fucked up vs oakland which unfortunately led to 2 INTs
inconsistent is fine but its fairly ambiguous - joe's inconsistent too - it doesnt really mean anything...

the other thing is that no one has shown that they can stop lamar or the ravens running game - 3rd and 5 is a running down if we want it to be that's how effective lamar is...

i also am not sure why you dont think he'll last the season running like he did against oakland - i think he got hit only once as a runner... that's incredibly sustainable...

but even thinking about this just as a passer - lamar showed a real comfort and efficiency in the pocket and reading the field at speed - he showed a good throwing motion, great mechanics and footwork and nice touch and timing

he had some plays he'll want back like the timing comeback to john brown but that throw showed how quickly he can read and how good his timing is

and oakland didnt limit his running in the 1st half - that was a self-imposed limitation

Someone give me a stat to prove or disprove this theory...

My theory is, through the course of a game, joe takes more hits in pocket than lamar takes total.

from memory i think it was more than 4-5 in the bengals game
cba to do the counting though - and certainly in the raiders game he got out of more hits in the pocket than he took extra hits in the running game
I meant 4-5 hits on runs, not including sacks and hits after release

i know - but he had 26 runs - 3 kneel downs = 23 - and from basic recall i remember most of his runs staying in field and him being tackled...

that feels like its gonna be a lot more than 4-5 tbh

i still agree with your basic point but i think the bengals game is not a good indicator
Think he ran out of bounds 6 times

I wanted to look at Jaylen Smith tape for the draft, and oh man I couldn't help but notice how much Lamar's mechanics have improved since then. I didn't hate his mechanics back then but now that I've seen him in the NFL you see how different he was. I've said it god knows how many times already but his ability to improve every year is his greatest asset.

Funny how QBR suddenly matters now that it speaks in favor of flacco.

Fun fact:
Flacco had a top 10 QB only 1 time in his career under Kubiak.
Made the top 15 3 times all under Cam.
All other seasons he was worse
