Next Up: Vs Chargers Wild Card Round

With all the success the Browns had against us going empty backfield and putting 4 receivers wide do you see other teams including the Chargers going with that approach? Have other teams had success running that against us? What do we do to try and address that?
Chargers O line and static Rivers won't be able to do that throughout the game. Our defensive line won't give them time to develop those plays.

Couldn't agree more. I'll add some more thoughts. To tackle Lamar in the open field is like picking up mercury. Unless you are very fast and luck out on the right angle a defensive guy isn't going to tackle Lamar in the open field. He is too gifted an athlete with a RB's vision of the field when he's on the run. He is deadly with the ball in his hands. Don't scoff at his throwing ability either because the kid threw for 9000 yds and 69 TDs in 3 yrs at Louisville. In the present system the Ravens have developed for him and the offense, they're slowly adding the passing plays to his repertoire. I say set him free to throw to open receivers because he'll find them. Lastly, he sees the field and goes through his progressions like a veteran already. He is a PHENOM and let's treasure him and thank Ozzie Newsome and DeCosta for having the courage of conviction to move up in the draft to pick him!
“Did someone say 69 TDs?”

I just can't believe that we drafted one of the most exciting offensive players ever. Sure we picked up some exotic defensive talent over the years, couple really good RBs and TEs but this just doesn't normally happen in Baltimore.
In other words, it’s about mf damn time.

Browns mentioned in their post-game pressers the fact that they thought we were vulnerable up the seam - that they’d identified it and gone right at that perceived weakness for the perriman td

Wonder why... weddle and jefferson

I hate playing teams twice this close together especially a team as talented as the chargers
I bet they hate playing a team that has beat them already. I am willing to bet they have more pressure on them. They already clinched a playoff spot when we played them at their house after they had a long rest and us traveling on a short week. All the pressure was on us fighting for a playoff spot. Now we have the advantage, they can fly east and play us at home in a loud stadium at 1pm, now with the pressure on them to perform. Personally, I feel like Rivers is a guy that gets flustered easy.....where I see Lamar just happy to be out there balling, even when mistakes happen. Rivers got flustered when he had less pressure to perform two weeks ago, let’s see him keep his cool now that the pressure is really on him, after watching tape - knowing that a guy like Wink is sending the house in cover zero when the game is on the line. Can’t wait!!

Jefferson is best kept around the LoS. He's always made plays there i.e. he stopped screens immediately and he doesn't allow much yac. But he's lost in coverage.

Although through seemingly no fault of his own, I’m going to wait to call him “one of the most exciting offensive players ever” until he starts showing he’s a threat as a passer. I love what I’ve seen so far because he has shown he can throw it, but the few attempts he gets makes it frustrating to judge him. He also needs to clean up the fumbles.

I’m worried about that alignment as well but let’s see if Martindale adds something to counter that formation. To be fair to our defense, they haven’t seen that before and didn’t seem prepared for it. I feel like we did better against it in the end when it counted so I guess we will see

Seems some people n the media are on the Ravens bandwagon. Don’t know who they were but a couple guys on NFLN picked us to go to the Super Bowl and reseeded us as the #1.

May not be as crazy as it sounds. I’m thinking if Mahomes didn’t perform that miracle 4th and 9 it’s possible we could have actually been the #1 seed or at least gotten a bye.

The way it played out we would of ended with the #3 seed since the chargers would of won the West @12/4 and the Texans 11/5 I think have the tie breaker over us for the #2 spot maybe that changes had we Finished that game against the Chiefs

Yeah I said that and forgot about the Chargers winning the west. Never mind then honestly I didn’t see a big difference between 3 and 4 seeds.

Of course given our 4-5 start any seed is a good seed.

I believe Marlon and Weddle both mentioned the fact that the Browns gave them something they havent seen before and so it gives them something to work on this week I think it will be cleaned up or atleast i hope because the chargers have easily a better WR core than the Browns lol

Yeah, honestly I was meh when we drafted Lamar. Didn’t ever really even entertain the idea that we might draft him. Wasn’t expecting it. But now I’m glad we did. He’s got me excited as FUCK. I love this brand of football we’re playing.
Did you watch any of his tape. Not highlights, but actual game tape.

I watched more lamar than anyone aside from Ridley and miller, I liked him a lot, and leading up to the draft I was reluctantly cool with the thought of drafting such an exciting prospect, his red carpet interview sounded so fucking stupid though that it really worried me.

His Purdue tape had me sold on him as a real qb, he put on a clinic out there, progressions, pocket work, scrambled throws, just all around one of the most impressive performances I’ve seen from any college player at any position.

Yes, I watched his Purdue tape. Hell I watched everything I could find, because I had a feeling we were going to try and draft him. I even thought there was a chance we could draft him at 16 and was ecstatic when we traded up for him. Anyway, I wasn’t asking Your because I know you watched his tape. I was asking devito. Hope you’re playing the forum mock this year.

Well damn my bad man, just making conversation lmao. I didn’t think we would actually do it, you couldn’t convince me that he wasn’t gonna be saint, steeler, or patriot. Thank fuck that’s not what happened.

And yeah I hope I can too, it’s been an extremely rough year for me and I just don’t have the focus to dive into prospects or play any forum games.
