I don’t see why doing this has anything to do with Jimmy? We may just like him and planned on pursuing him anyway there is nothing wrong with having 4 very good corners a lot of teams would love to have Brandon Carr also

Yeah it is a concern. Thinking this trade means one of two things, or maybe both. Either Smith is not healing as planned or we’ve already decided to move on from him after this season.

It is a huge disappointment that so far this year we’ve gotten zero value out that $16 mil..

My point was we haven't heard anything about how he's healing. Regardless, we were looking for secondary help anyway, but just think it's a little odd with him supposed to be coming back.

This is what I meant. Could also be us just trying to replenish the cupboard. He will make "business" decisions, but Peters should fit in really well in our scheme. Also, has pretty good knowledge of the NFC west. Wonder if he plays this week.

I think this move is more of an indictment of Jimmy’s inability to stay healthy and less about his current injury status.

Can’t see a scenario where Peters is on our roster next season. He’s going to demand a lot of money even if he doesn’t play well.

Don't see us re-signing Jimmy. Also, we save 7 mil by cutting Jefferson putting us close to 70 mil before re-signing anyone. It's very likely we could work a deal with Peters depending on how the rest of the season goes.
