I’d be down to trade Judon for an early third if we could swing it. If we could get a mid to late 2 I’d be ecstatic.

but at the same time I’m kinda getting on board with tag and play if we can do it, I just don’t wanna lock him up long term unless it’s low in gurantees, and I damn sure don’t want him walking in hopes of a comp pick. If we keep Judon, then we hope one of Ferguson, bowser, or potential rookie pans out, and we keep jimmy on for a year, and we continue blitzing, it works, pass rushers just aren’t as important to us as literally every other team. I agree with the 2nd part. Judon is probably worth more than a 3rd to our defense. The role he has is more than just setting the edge and rush the passer. Wink's defense is very sophisticated and we have all seen that it even takes veterans quite some time to learn and settle in. I fear the drop off would be huge if a rookie or a lower replacement type of player took over. But I doubt he'd net us something morr than a 3rd.

i would not mind bringing him back on a low-value 1 year deal or something like that but im not going to pay him major money coming off his injury problems

would be odd if he did come back this offseason given that we picked re-signing yanda over re-signing KO and now he would be arbitrarily replacing yanda post-retirement...

Yeah, injuries and decline in play quality are the reasons I wouldn't want either but even if KO was still good and healthy, his handling of the departure from Baltimore was so trash that I wouldn't want him anyway.

For what it's worth, I have it on good authority that KO's departure was related more to one coach that the organization as a whole. He certainly did not handle it well regardless, but the comments after he left were more fueled in one direction.

Yea but he’s not even good at setting the edge and it’s concerning he doesn’t get double digit sacks in a defense that blitzes more than anyone in the league. He’s always sucked at finishing

I get the sense that most people feel that way. Good coach, but personality is an issue for certain guys. Not sure what exactly it was in this specific case, but I have a source that'll drop a nugget here and there on some lower level guys that he reps, and he said they just did not see eye to eye and that Castillo is a dick. Not the only player that has said that, either.

I wonder if we'll see an influx of deals being reached Sunday/Monday morning after the CBA vote. I have to imagine that's a big holdup right now across the league as we've really only seen a few minimum guys get deals. Would imagine a lot of the guys we've been talking to (e.g. Levine, Ward) are probably not getting the minimum, but not too much above. Guessing they want to see what the raises come out to before they sign on the dotted line. I know Zrebiec said we were close on those 2 and Ellis a couple of weeks back, and then again earlier this week.

Nah. Comp picks are nice but bird in hand and all that jazz. The absolute max you can get is a comp3 which is essentially an early 4, in a trade you can potentially get anywhere from a 2 to a late 3 before the comp pick portion.

then there’s the risk of a player going on IR in training camp and your whole formula takes a hit, we’re lucky as shit that somehow we got a 3 for mosley. AND a 3 this year is worth a 4 next year, draft currency right now is just worth way more than a year from now, opting for a 3 next year when we could get a 2-3 this year is essentially settling for an entire round less in value.

and there’s also the bonus of being able to move up using the picks gained from a trade. If we luck out big time and some really stupid team sends us a 2, we would be in position to move up if there’s a falling stud like a kinlaw, brown, chaisson, wirfs, or even one of the big time wrs(this class is so deep that I have a really odd feeling that the 2 and 3 are gonna go much later than we think).

My point was the likelihood they have a free agent/agents they need to sign and they need the space and the money for the tag that Judon (unless they have a trade lined up or believe he'd accept a long term deal) would take up, then perhaps it might become an option but I totally hear what you're saying.

I’m hoping we go after shaq Lawson. I think he’s a ascending player. 6.5 sacks, 12 TFL while only playing 47% of snaps last season. He knows how to seal the edge on run plays. Always liked him coming out of Clemson.
