If we pick Murray, I will say straight up that he needs to get straight to work on becoming an edge. Edge rushers don’t have to rely on their eyes or making reads, they can just pin em back and go attack, which is what he does.

I don’t wanna sit here and act like Murray would be a good pick, but I will say that if any team would make Murray effective, it would be us, we have this DL that would mask his biggest weakness, which is hesitance to take on blocks and the knack of completely losing sight of the play when traffic gets near him, and the DL and scheme would give him a very good chance to do what he does well, attack. The stretch runs that ate us up so badly this year will be much less of a threat with him being able to cleanly chase laterally, and having him as a standup rusher anywhere on the front is a plus for the ravens more than any defense, he’s unique in that one aspect, that he can play laterally but can also attack the pocket in passing downs from anywhere ala ZDS or McPhee.

that is the one justification I could make, that we could use him pretty well

But there are other guys who actually play that role in college.
no way we're picking murray to be anything other than ILB.

Wasn't Ahmad Brooks in a similar situation, drafted as an ILB and turned into a pretty decent edge rusher. If we transition to a 4-3 do you think he could be more of an athletic type Blitzer that we send more often than not, considering we blitz >50% of our snaps.

I guess Aqib Talib was never great then in your eyes?
Sure he was. He also did two stints with two different teams of 4+ years.

Has Marcus done that? You think he's all of the sudden going to settle into a team when he's in his 30s?

A better comparison would be... do I think Bernard Pollard was a great player? No, I don't. He never did more than 2 years with any team after his rookie deal, and was out of the league by like 30.

Per Brian M...

Sam Koch's extension lowers his cap number by $1.1M
LJ Fort got restructured and reduced his cap number by $750K

Not much of savings, but nearly $2M on some minor moves is nothing to scoff at.

I liked Pierce, for a while it looked like he would be the guy. I am glad he got paid!

Lions have traded Darius Slay to the Eagles, for a 3 and a 5 in 2020.

Slay signs a 3 year extension worth $50M.

Marlon right now

Bernard pollard was also caught in a philosophical shift in the nfl and he himself wasn’t a very good player on the field, and was a huge egomaniac and cancer off of it, and then the added knock of being a box safety in a league where he was bigger and slower than half the starting LBs

That hurts us bad, basically guarantees the eagles take a WR with their first, when it was very much a possibility that they take a cb instead

This is just awful. Praying it goes away soon.

Times like this, regardless of age, people show you just how selfish they really are. We may not see any football until the winter.

Pollard had one job, and that was to hit people. He never was that great. He is also annoying lol

I don't think we'll be taking a WR in the first anyway, so if anything, I think it'll push a better defensive player down the board to us.

Think Eagles will still be looking for Oline help as well, potentially. They also probably still need another corner or two.

McKenzie Alexander's deal would have been good depth for us. I know we have a massive bias towards our guys but lets get a bit younger rather than trying to squeeze everything out of guys in their 30's.

Couldn't afford him, nor would I be addressing depth by signing a Corner at this point.
