Tim William's was supposed to be a stud man....

Had so much potential I just think he never committed to football.

and you'd see flashes and he progressed as a run defender too but literally could not keep his head on football for long enough - think the injury in his 2nd year screwed him over - was making progress and then ends up on his own away from the team and clearly never came back the same

then 3rd year he looks good to start but cannot get out of his own way

was probably the best pure pass rushing talent that we've drafted in a long long time but there was a reason he dropped to the 3rd round i suppose

I see terrell Lewis as a better version of Tim Williams. Would have been nice if we had an extra 3rd and picked him up

would have totally completed a draft where we theoretically ( if we got a good player with each pick) sorted our entire team out!

But it is something that needs to be done before a certain date right?

I’m seeing at as a bit of ‘anti trade insurance’ at the moment

if a trade were to happen he'd sign it and go - it gives him the leverage to have a say in where he gets traded (if it happens) because he could refuse to sign his tender but ultimately all it does is stop him from getting fined etc. for missing mandatory offseason activities and stuff like that

this only becomes a problem if he hasnt signed it and we're a couple of weeks into training camp (if it happens on time)

Yeah, Lewis is a different beast compared to Williams. Linebacker actually, not just a pass rusher.

that one was a massive disappointment. i was so bullish on him and that talent was fucking there man, he was talented enough to perform in the nfl. such a shame, if he just grew tf up and took football seriously our pass rush woes would be halved

i dont see that comp. terrell lewis to me was more like a skinnier pernell mcphee, i didnt see a pure edge rush talent with him but more of a pressure guy in general, he was clueless on bending the edge but goddamn if he didnt know how to make some cuts and turn on some burners to find some pressure somewhere across the front. tim williams was a legitimate edge bender.

I think his issue to go along with Willie Henry issue is that they lost too much weight. Im not sure if they both figured that being slimmer would keep them healthier but these guys obviously were either ignoring their condition coach advice or got the wrong advice during the offseason. I think Williams and Henry is agood example on why training camp should be longer because some of these guys coming out of college dont really know what they doing when left alone to handle taking care of their body or to stay in shape.

If they sign Clowney they might be able to lead the league in almost sacks.
At least Clowney wouldn’t square up Henry man on man and whiff on a tackle like Judon. Clowney is a true game wrecker. Judon is just a product of our system.

tim williams was very overweight his first season and was closer to his college size in year 2 and 3

those are called pressures and are generally more indicative of consistent pass rush than actual sack numbers, because finished sacks have too many variables out of the rushers control.

I really want Mcphee back.

I don’t see any way a defense can ever be truly elite without a game changing pass rusher. I was thinking, I would right now give up our next two first round picks for Khalil Mack. and I value picks like the ravens do. And he isn’t as dominate, but to me it just seems crazy to not sign clowney. you only lose money. ship judon away and sign a one year for the same as the franchise tag.

Judon has to agree to a couple of things for this to happen.
and right now i don't see that happening.

Having Mack would be amazing, but we don't have the cap space to make it work.
Here's my case for Judon:
Our defense is different from what most other teams run. Let's focus on the front 7. We don't have one player - maybe B.Williams (only 0t or 3t) - who can play only one position. Every DL can play every technique and all of our Edges can drop into coverage (not sure about Ferguson though). Judon for example can rush from the outside and inside or drop back into coverage. We play pretty much a positionless defense. We got rid of Pierce (pure NT) and Wormley (pure 5t). We drafted Washington, signed Wolfe, traded for Campbell. This makes it much harder for an offense because you can't focus on one single player and watch only his tape. You can disguise blitzes better. Judon is versatile and Clowney isn't.
