Are you all really shocked by the Tomlin thing? This stuff was NORMAL in the day. Wouldn't be shocked if many teams have helped a player with a fine they felt was BS. A lot of times a defender is just doing his job.

True but Tomlin and Steelers are still pure trash.

on another front, DeAndre Baker turned himself into the police this morning.

Must be that time of the offseason to start doing things that will get you arrested. His agent says there's a whole back story that and I quote....

"There's an entire back story to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine. Please withhold judgment until all the facts of what took place that night are known.”

Edit: Quinton Dunbar turned himself in too.

From Amy Dash's(Legal Analyst for FOX)Twitter:

Unbelievable turn of events. Seahawks Quinton Dunbar’s attorney presented sworn affidavits from the SAME 5 witnesses who reported alleged robbery to police, recanting their stories. Prosecutor finds it “suspect” & police will look into perjury charges. https://t.co/jkAa7vEsqQ

What's Dunbar hiding? You only pay people off in order to hide the truth.

NFL announces changes to the Rooney Rule.
  • ROGER GOODELLC, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

The NFL will now require teams to interview at least two minority candidates for head-coaching openings moving forward.
That is an upgrade from the previous requirement of one minority candidate since the implementation of the Rooney Rule. Now broken, teams have simply been handing out interviews to minorities knowing they weren’t going to get the job. This will hopefully improve things. Additionally, teams will now have to interview a minority for open coordinator jobs. That wasn’t part of the original Rooney Rule.

Yeah forcing teams to do interview coaches they have no plans to hire was always the problem with the rule. So the rule will continue to be abused even if you force teams to interview one extra candidate. I hope the rule applying to open coordinator jobs will help in creating a path toward becoming a Head Coach in the future.

Yeah, just an illusion of them doing the right thing.
It's all bullshit.

Speaking of the Cowboys, as they try to get a deal done with Dak Prescott, Dak's agent has asked for a pretty big demand that would push Dak's contract to an average of $37M a year. The Cowboys are offering a 4 year deal worth $35M a year.

What Prescott agent Todd France is suggesting is this: Dak will take the four-year framework at $35 million ... and if Dallas wants the fifth year, the Cowboys must tack on $45 million more. Not “back-loaded.’’ Not ”in the fifth year’’ but rather “as a reward, included in the overall deal, for doing the fifth year.’’

Now do that math: 4 x $35 million = $140 million. Tack on another year and another $45 million = $185 million. Meaning, in marrying Simms’ rumor with our facts, Prescott is asking that a five-year agreement pay him $185 million. Which equals $37 million a year. Which means the Cowboys (offering $35 million APY) are $2 mil per year away from an agreement.

I just.......

that's fairly old news tbf - we've seen that he's basically asking for a 37m yr/avg but with a slightly odd structure (basically he's projecting that in 5 years time the nfl will be paying QBs around 45m)

but he's basically asking for a 4 yr 35m/yr deal that would be worth 140m with an additional 5th year at the end worth 45m

But also this from rapsheet:

Dallas prefers long term contracts in order to pay out a bunch of money but cost the player in the long run. Tyron Smith signed a 8 year $97.6M extension in 2014 averaging $12.2M per year. Tunsil just got, $22M per year average, and Stanley will either match or be close to $25M per year. Tyron has lost out on some money, and Dak wants to get back to the open market quick while still young and not risking being stuck in a long term deal. Perhaps this becomes a Kirk Cousins situation where he gets tagged twice, then they let him walk in FA?
