Ravens Ring of Honor
Actually both of our stats aren’t correct after fact checking Jets :1909 Ravens:1972 according to NFL.com.

Last year was a one hit wonder . Defenses have adjusted to the college style of play. It’s now on the Ravens to adjust , something that won’t happen with Roman calling the shots. Just like Kap and Taylor, Roman has some great years which quickly flamed out.

1. My stats are correct. Mine reflect NET passing yards (accounting for sacks), whereas NFL.com is just gross passing yards.
2. Last years offense wasn't really a college-style of offense at all, just like KC's wasn't either, though it uses a ton of college-level motion and design.
3. It has more to with lack of execution really. Far worse blocking on the Oline, especially in the run-game, and a QB who's making poor decisions and being sporadically inaccurate with the football.

People can blame the OC all they want, though I would think Ravens fans would have realized through the last decade that firing the OC rarely changes the offense dramatically, since we've tried that about a half dozen times already.

A new OC won't make the offensive lineman block better, nor will it help a QB who refused to throw outside the numbers and feels pressure when it isn't there.

THIS.

I'm not sure if it's playing calling, straight refusal to try, or if he just does not see it/read the defense. Too many times I see the defense step way back on coverage before the play. No audibles for short stuff and no immediate short throws to the speedy receivers for YAC opportunities.

Do I think it's because he can't hit the outside? No, I have seen him do it. I think it's either a refusal or he is being told not to. At this point it looks crazy that a corner is playing 8-10 yards back and our receivers are running straight into the defense.

While I get what you’re saying, and I agree that the line is trash, Lamar has been playing poorly, and the receivers are also trash, Greg Roman is a problem lol, it’s been a trend for him throughout his career, and the passing concepts really are poor. Also, firing an OC once helped spark a super bowl run for this franchise so I wouldn’t use the post-injury flacco era ravens as any example that firing an OC brings no change

And I would argue better execution from players helped spark a SB run more than a new OC did.
Or, even if you want to argue it on merit, Caldwell would then be on par with Roman would he not? Caldwell had like an 8 game run of quality play calling, if you want to even give him credit for that. Nobody was singing his praises during the entirety of the 2013 season, and very few people were devastated to see him leave in 2014.
Caldwell was, in a lot of ways, the Dean Pees of offensive play calling. Just good enough to not get fired, but never good enough to be given credit for the success of the unit.

What both the pre and post-injury Flacco era taught us is that if you didn't make significant changes to the personnel and get better execution and QB play, it really never mattered who was calling the plays.

Like even the 2014 Ravens offense, which was probably the best one we had seen in the Harbaugh era until last year, wasn't even really THAT good. It was just viewed as really good because, comparably to what we had seen before, it was a lot better. Like they were a fringe top 10 offense.

Frankly, if we canned Roman after the season, I wouldn't really bat an eye at it. I never thought he was some revolutionary play caller who teams would salivate over, and I never gave him nearly the credit (or the criticism) that everybody else does. I'm merely saying that those that think firing the OC now or even after the season is going to be the catalyst that springs this offense back to life are in for a very large disappointment 12 months from now, and should start preparing themselves for said disappointment now.

If I were management, I'd be spending my offseason on various personnel upgrades and depth, and on making sure Lamar's development as a passer goes into warp speed. If that doesn't help to fix the problem to a large extent, then I'll rubber stamp the sweeping coaching changes.

So they should cancel the Thanksgiving night game to a future date. This would help us alot right now

They could move it to the rare Tuesday Night Game but I'm not too sure it works since NBC is covering the game. They probably have some primetime show or something that would have to be moved. Maybe 4PM Monday on NBC or something, but I'll be surprised if this game goes on as planned on Thursday.

It is completely unfair to us that the fucking NFL has not already postponed this game till Tuesday of next week. It is a fucking guaranteed loss for us
with the people out and maybe thats what the fucking NFL wants ! I am fucking pissed !!!!!!!!!

We didn't even fucking practice today. Fuck the NFL if they don't cancel.

Wow. I mean yeah, our team is tanking, and will likely lose their 4th of 5 games this week, but sheeeze - chill out. You seem like you’re about to explode. So what if the Steelers go undefeated and win their 7th Lombardi? We always have next year.... right?

i dont want sweeping coaching changes, i want an OC more in tune with Lamar, and i want massive upgrades to the OL and i want Joe D to coach those guys, those are my 2 biggest wants and that only concerns one coach leaving. oh but then theres the wr thing, harbaugh needs to speak to a like a well known wr guru and find out what the hell to look for in a WR coach, or when scouting WRs, because god damn that part of the franchise has to change too.

Today's injury report suggests that Wolfe wouldn't have practiced today because of an illness. I have a feeling he's not gonna be playing Thursday.

Agree - he should study Pittsburgh or NE and try to copy what they do - we can never seem to develop organic talents like those premier franchises do

We're expecting more positives tomorrow - only McPhee's gone on the list because he's the only one who's had 2 consecutive positives - the other guys we'll find out about tomorrow when the results of their 2nd tests come in - no word yet on who they are though

there's no way this game is getting moved though unless the NFL's hand is absolutely forced - NBC primetime thanksgiving ads etc. are too big for them to move the game if they have any possible option

And Mekari for "non-injury reason" which is the same designation McSorley had for 2 days last week before ending up on the list.

It is crazy how they continue to say player safety is at the forefront of the decision but we know damn well that isn't the case. No organization that cares about "safety" is about to put 90 people on a plane, especially after seeing how some other teams had positive tests day after day earlier this year. It's a money decision.
