not for this year's draft picks though
But I think they can agree in principle beforehand
According to Rappaport, “The way it would work potentially is the Falcons would agree to a deal in principle before the draft. The trade would involve next year’s draft picks, not this year’s. Then it would be executed after June 1.”The Falcons said if he is traded it would be post June 1 for Salary Cap reasons
I know.. I just wrote what Rappaport saidnot for this year's draft picks though
OK, but again, it doesn't really do anything for Atlanta. I mean... what are they in a rush for? Is his value going to be bigger this weekend than a month from now? I personally don't think so. I think they may get a better trade for him after the draft.According to Rappaport, “The way it would work potentially is the Falcons would agree to a deal in principle before the draft. I agree 100%, but I think they might be getting pressured by us or another WR needy team who would like to possibly take a 1st round WR off their board. Plus, I think they’ll select a QB at 4 as Pitts (take it for what it is) stated he doesn’t think he’ll be selected by Atlanta, which would indicate a full blown rebuild, PLUS, that’s a lot of cap relief for them by getting Julio off the booksOK, but again, it doesn't really do anything for Atlanta. They don't get cap space now, and they don't get any additional trade assets now. So their draft is unimpacted by the trade. If I were them, I'd need to get a really good deal to trade him today or tomorrow. Maybe that offer comes, but they also don't know what they don't know.
The only real incentive for Atlanta to deal this weekend is if they can use 2021 picks. Then they could be highly motivated.
If it were me, of course, I wouldn't trade him at all.
I guess we'll find out in the next 30 hours or so. I can see a reason for Atlanta to take a QB, but realistically, there are no paths to getting out of Ryan's deal this year, and its still very difficult to move in 2022 also. Not impossible, but there's not much cap savings and there's a ton of dead money. So if I were them, I'd be using pick #4 to upgrade the roster by whatever means they have, and make another 1-2 year run at this. They have to like their chances in that division with NO and Carolina possibly not being very good. The cap savings this year is something, but there's not a gigantic use for a bunch of cap space post-June, when most of your good players are long off the market, and a "rebuilding" team probably isn't interested in investing cap space in veterans anyway.I agree 100%, but I think they might be getting pressured by us or another WR needy team who would like to possibly take a 1st round WR off their board. Would require a restructure of Julio's deal AND a restructure of a player or two currently on the roster. The one question with Julio is how to fit him under the cap. The move zeroes out their cap and they need to sign draft picks so it would take a restructure and I guess the only reasonably high base salary with years left on it is Stanley.
So he thinks a trade is completely unlikely? Or that it would be difficult to pull off? Albert Breer “feels” as if Julio will be moved. I’m so sick of getting my hopes up lolNot that it's super surprising, but Jay Glazer said on his IG live that it's his understanding that the Ravens called to inquire, but nothing too major beyond that. Said he doesn't expect anything to go down due to the intricacies of Julio's contract and how difficult that makes it being that teams would have to wait until June.

Interesting. Maybe that’s just his opinion and he hasn’t actually heard anything. All signs have pointed to Julio possibly being traded by reputable sources and none of them have yet to say they don’t see it happening. I guess we’ll find outI believe the words he used were "I don't see it happening"

Agreed. I guess time will tellI would caution that Glazer isn’t the type to speculate. He’s plugged in
I hate "blockbuster trades." That indicates we might be sending someone their way. If it's a WR, who? If it's another young player who? That would be a way to exchange pay value. If it's just a blockbuster for picks to get him here that could work OR be a deal breaker. I'd hate to lose out like we did with Jarvis Landry.
