If we can just eliminate some of those big plays that we're giving up, seemingly every game, then this defense might actually be halfway decent. Tackling seemed to be less of an issue yesterday and we were swarming to the ball. Pass rush seems to be a big problem right now though as Oweh has been double and triple teamed for the past several games and no one else seems to be stepping up (Houston was a non-factor yesterday).

May least Stephens has shown some nice stuff playing the deep safety role - we’re not completely barren behind Elliott but it is a loss for sure
 


unexpected but maybe should have expected given the way this often happens post-bye

but seeing mcphee and jimmy hardly playing surprised me (jimmy more than mcphee...)

i wonder if partly (given stephens low snaps too) whether the vikings were running a lot of heavier sets (i didnt pay that much attention to their personnel groupings) that kept us out of dime a lot - especially given jelly played the most DL snaps and stephens and jimmy barely saw the field

I’d imagine our highest priority was to stop dalvin cook, if cousins beats us then ggwp, sort of how we used to do in leveon bells prime, we know Ben and the wrs are dangerous but bell will completely take over the game if you let him x
 
I remember wondering late in the game if Jimmy was inactive because I hadn't seen him, then I looked up the inactive list.

harbs just said in his presser that it wasnt on purpose - was mostly just a matter of the vikings personnel and stuff like that in the gameplan that meant that he was barely used

said the plan is for him to play more than the 1 snap he got lol

ideally he cut blocks him which is how that play is designed to work - any other kind of block and Barr can still get his hands in the lane (albeit he might not get the INT if he’s being blocked)

there’s certainly something to be said for having the intangibles to be able to execute better in late-game scenarios

but you’re right more generally that teams that play in tight games over time win and lose them at a similar rate... historically teams that play lots of close games are normally fairly average in the accounting at the end of the year - the vikings are a decent example of that adage - very average team with some poor luck

as Lamar said in the post-game presser - he’d much prefer it not to be tight or go to overtime

true, but we probably will get better starting fast also
 
I didn’t get to watch this one aside from overtime , but seems par for the course. Defense gave up big plays and more poor tackling (the long Cook run just cracked me up). They did make that clutch stand in OT after the interception (great play from Minn). The Ravens are finally a team that wins with offense in shootouts, Lamar has silenced the come from behind narrative. Bateman seems to continue to make good contributions for a rookie and Hollywood Brown is really becoming a special player for us. I hope Andrews is ok. Next man up on safety, injuries are just ridiculous
