So is Wagner literally the only LB in FA that's good and available?
Why is he literally the only guy we're targeting?
Doesn't sound like a positional target to me. Sounds like a "great player is available and we want him" target to me. I think if Bobby Wagner were a TE we'd be in his market too...

It’s not about the specifics of the investment... it’s about the guys on the roster at a given moment didn’t need to invest because we had CJ and Daryl and got lucky with Orr

It’s not like they’re dead set on chasing LB by any means necessary but they clearly value the position and were excited about the opportunity to add Wagner on top of queen

They value 3 down LBs and queen hasn’t become a dependable 3 down LB - he’s been an exciting 2 down guy with occasional 3rd down value and maybe he still becomes that guy but given the opportunity to add a quality veteran, they tried to take it

Because as we always say there’s multiple ways to add them - free agency and the draft both count the same and we’ve tried to use both

Well gentlemen and lady (@RaineV1 ), we learned two important lessons in free agency and I need to hold myself accountable on both of them.

Lesson 1 - NEVER AGAIN get hyped about a free agent signing UNTIL the contract has been signed.

Lesson 2 - AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME we're out in the "sweepstakes" of a free agent the moment you hear that he or a friend of his announces a date as to when he'll make his decision as to where he'll sign.

You’re not wrong. At this rate just add cheap depth everywhere you need it, and hope for the best in the draft. Never know you could sign 3 cheap dudes and fuck around and have one of them become a decent starter and another an impactful backup. That kinda shit happens literally all over the league ever year.
