also @UPennChem

obviously it's just a random single emoji tweet... but doesnt seem like he's got an issue with the ravens philosophically (MP beef/AFC North rival) or schematically

Ugh I’m gonna get my hopes up

idk about the numbers thing - our WR2 in 2021 got 500+ yds as a rookie after missing like 6 games and then playing with a backup QB for another 6... and is now our WR1...

no way he looks at this offence and the volume of snaps and targets available here (especially in the middle of the field) and doesnt think he can produce... remember he's been stuck with baker mayfield for a while and only had like 500 yds himself last year

we'll see if the MP thing is really an issue or not, but ultimately i reckon it'll just be about the contract - what money and how many years - he's not even 30 yet and the ravens will find it easier to massage his cap hit by doing a multi-year deal... so why cant the ravens be that team? maybe he wants to hit the market again after a 1 year deal - i dont know... but i dont think there are going to be many better situations to come into as a vet at this point and earn snaps straight away - everywhere else in the league outside of like the Falcons, he'd be looking at being a WR3 or at best competing for a WR2 role, with the ravens he can walk in as WR2 and maybe convince himself he could even earn a WR1 target share in this offence
What happens when the running game is back to working though? He could possibly look at it that way! Landry is usually what like a 80 plus reception guy? he probably dont see himself putting up those numbers in this system..

I've been in on Landry since they tried to trade for him and the Brownies swooped in. That would have been an awesome addition to the Ravens for the early Lamar years. I hope they do wind up getting him over any of the others except maybe Beasley. Odell, Fuller, AB, Julio... no, no, no, and no.

Personally, while a vet WR - especially one of Landy's caliber - would be nice, I think this group, with the new TE's, is being a little underestimated, perhaps. Both Proche and Duvernay were coming on at the end of last year and Wallace didn't disappoint either. I think we're in a better place than most give credit for. I'm still super hopeful we land Landry!

he'll get 85-100 targets here
as much as we're all talking about 2019 - we're not going back to that run-pass ratio

a better run game will create better offensive efficiency but we're not going to stop passing the ball

Not sure about that. He'll be third in targets at best (Bateman and Andrews). RBs will also get a bunch of targets.

And in the end, I just don't trust Roman to not go back to the old numbers the moment the run game is good again.

run game was good in 2020 and he didnt go back to that style until after Ronnie Stanley got injured and we had the IOL issues

3rd place in targets in 2021 was bateman with nearly 70 despite missing the first 5 games of the year - and that's with hollywood and andrews both getting 150 each

lamar loves the middle of the field, lamar loves receivers who separate - i definitely dont think it's unreasonable to suggest Landry could have 85-100 targets in 2022

landry definitely doesnt look done lol

I mean sure if you keep him as a 3 or 4 WR he can still play but the guy who played the past 2 years has not looked like a 1 or 2. So he is going to get significantly better, which tends to not be how careers go, or he is not a guy the Ravens need as they do not need a 3 or a 4.

Yea but long as our running backs come back healthy, our offense will still heavily revolve around the run game.i doubt lamar have 500 pass attempts by like the 11th game again… well actually he could if dnt wanna run the designed runs as much anymore

Odell can still play and Landry looks done. That would be the big difference between them. The Ravens would be fine getting a player back mid November for a playoff run because at least then you are getting a good player for 6 games plus a playoff run versus a below average player for 17 games plus playoff run.
in 12 games he had 570 yards and 52 receptions. He also turns 30 in November. Landry is far from done.

It's not like they don't have a running game in Cleveland. Sure they pass the ball more often, but I believe he is at a point in his career that he wants to win as well.

Chuck Clark spearheaded winks defense, he’s an NFL starting caliber strong safety, but with winks firing he became expendable, all it took was a superior starter and he would be one foot out the door already.

Should be a big defensive renaissance for the ravens the next year or two as well.
