Completely agreeit'll do him a ton of good not to be relied on as a full-time starter and not to be asked to play much outside
not suggesting he'll get back to 2018/2019 pro bowl form but no reason to think he can't add value and security to this CB corps that was probably 1 of only 2 remaining shallow parts of the defence (along with ILB)
why can't he play in the slot?
Well marlon is never gonna be exclusively a slot corner. He’s shown he can do the “take this player out of the game” role no matter who we face, whether it’s the teams 1, 2, or TE he can go a long way in accomplishing that, and THAT is worth 20m no matter how many snaps he takes in the slot.Paying a slot corner 20m is like saying just pay Mark Andrews 25m. Sure it is a thing you can do but it is a waste for the position he is playing.

I doubt he would ever say that. His dad was gloating about how lucky Kyle was to be drafted by Baltimore and that was their hope. He was talking about how he knew Ozzie from way back and they had roots to Alabama. So, I'm not sure what to believe.I thought I read something saying that Hamilton wanted to play in a different city.
Nickel is a starter and they make 8-9m per of you are the best. Paying 20m for a 9m position is just bad investing. Obviously you can throw him there to mix it up, his hands are great so he excels at it, but you want him on the sideline locking down the 20m WR that every team seems to be buying.Well marlon is never gonna be exclusively a slot corner. Nickel is a starter in todays nfl and if you have a nickel who can dominate in areas outside of just coverage then you have a weapon. I argue you get more value out of hump the more you play him in the slot, because that opens up reps against TEs, blitzes, and screen busting and run support, which frankly he does better at all of them than he does in boundary play. You end up losing when you force players out of their most impactful roles to justify their price tag.
This is just such rigid thinking though. Like every play and drive are gonna be different depending on what the offense is doing. Also not every big money WR you want to shutdown plays on the outside. Some play from the slot.Nickel is a starter and they make 8-9m per of you are the best. Marlons hands are trash lol, and like Rossi said, when Ramsey played a shit ton of nickel in 2021 he impacted the game in ways he never could have when he was staying on the boundary. It’s not a 9mil position, you’re thinking of a slot corner as a cb3 but when teams move their most dangerous player to the slot week in and week out then you’re not gonna want a 9m cb3 covering themNickel is a starter and they make 8-9m per of you are the best. Yeah there's only one problem with this logic... you're assuming all the best WRs play in the same formation all the time.Nickel is a starter and they make 8-9m per of you are the best. Maybe. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to playing defense. The $20m CB follows the $20 WR that's called maximising your asset.
it may work that way, but I don't see Kyle Fuller playing the slot much here. He didn't do well there last season in Denver and prior to that played very little in the slot.Your best combination is Humphrey and Peters outside. Both are, or were when they last played, too 10 corners (Marlon being top 5). Humphrey isn’t bad in the slot and better than Fuller but the drop off on the outside is not worth it.

Did you ever think the highest paid slot CB is only paid $9M because he only plays the slot? The best CBs in the league move all around the field for the most partNo I’m thinking of slot corner as a guy you pay to play that position and the highest paid is at 9m. I didn’t make up a number, I looked up the highest paid slot corner before saying that number.

Jalen Ramsey makes more than 9milNo I’m thinking of slot corner as a guy you pay to play that position and the highest paid is at 9m. I didn’t make up a number, I looked up the highest paid slot corner before saying that number.
Right but those are basically players who only play slot and are rarely, if ever, asked to play outside. No I’m thinking of slot corner as a guy you pay to play that position and the highest paid is at 9m. I didn’t make up a number, I looked up the highest paid slot corner before saying that number.
that is really old school thought. It's not like he exclusively plays in the slot.Paying a slot corner 20m is like saying just pay Mark Andrews 25m. Sure it is a thing you can do but it is a waste for the position he is playing.
