Signings, Cuts, Trades

My brother, I think Mims could actually be really good on our team. It just seems extremely unlikely we'll offer something of real value.

I know. But it’s the off-season. So let me dream :(

Seeing a lot of expectations that we're going to have like 4 or 5 handshake-IR-roster type transactions and just feel the need to call out that we shouldn't expect that much. Can only return a maximum of 8 guys this year so some shorter term injuries are going to have to sit on the active roster for a bit. I'd be shocked if we burn that many potential options just setting the 53 man roster.
Why would there be 4 or 5? You need one for Kolar, one for Ojabo. The only other guy that you could need to do that for would be Mack. I actually can't imagine 4 or 5

Not necessarily here but I’ve seen people saying Travis Jones, Kevon Seymour, among others.

it's going to be 2 guys: ojabo and kolar

the other guys being touted like JK dont make any sense because they're not allowed to practice while on I/R... who else would even potentially fit as a short-term i/r candidate right now outside of maybe Travis Jones?

i do think there may be some handshaking that goes on but not necessarily all just with I/R... might see some vested veterans lurking on the PS - Zrebiec in his 53 man roster prediction suggested Brent Urban might not make the team and that Isaiah Mack would come in in his place

Also not that I expect it by any means, but if there's one surprise cut... lookout for Nick Boyle

i dont think he's getting cut - i think you might see his role reduce from when he was last here though - he's the primary blocking TE on this team... even if he's not the game-changing blocker he once was (and we don't know that right now), he's still the only guy of that ilk on the team - pat ricard isnt quite the same guy boyle is

he has reportedly been playing late in games because he feels like he needed the game-action and the coaches agreed that the live bullets would help him

I certainly don’t expect it but also wouldn’t be surprised is more what I’m getting at. Just doesn’t look the same after that knee injury right now and represents some savings if they wanted. Still think chances are slim but don’t think they’re 0 either.

Agreed. There’s going to be some wtf kind of things but it’ll all make sense. So many guys that you can play around with but not necessarily all of them are going to be back on the 53 on Wednesday. Would be surprised if there aren’t a couple vets who sit on the PS for a few weeks. Feels like people constantly forget that’s an option.

I wouldn't agree about Seymour but ok at least makes sense. How does Jones even make sense?
I think the Jones theory is that if he has to miss 2-3 weeks then you might as well IR him, but there are limits back in place this year.

Mostly comes down to the idea that all of our players are good and we need to find a way to keep as many as possible, but that’s never reality. Most of these guys that some are trying to squeeze onto the roster in their minds will end up out of the league in a couple years.

are you talking 3 weeks from the injury or 3 weeks of the regular season, because 3 weeks form the injury brings us to 9/11.

i think what is clear is that this is likely his last year here unless he takes a significant pay-cut and even then the ravens might well be fine moving on

the other side to that too that people forget is the non-guaranteed contracts after week 1

Exactly. It takes some assurances and trust of course, but why would you not hold onto guys that would need to be exposed to waivers instead of these vets? You get benefits from releasing them and then signing them to the PS so they're going to do that wherever possible. Not that it's always doable but you have quite a few options this year and not all of them are coming right back to the 53. Flexibility came out of Covid and we've taken advantage of that.

we might get a few but normally the bulk of the news on the cuts comes in the hour or so before the deadline
Saw we released the punter we just signed. But yeah tomorrow is the big day. My final prediction is there are two handshake deals and they are with TJ and Means

This was never in question

lol i think he genuinely had a better chance of making the roster than TJ...

Zrebiec has talked about it a bunch, he's been unlucky to be the guy in all the highlights for the receivers but that's not actually been typical of his play during camp - that and he's a good special teamer
