Lamar, The Running Game and The Defensive Collapse

This team has to stop losing guys to injuries every single week. I know no one goes a whole season without losing guys but ffs 2 games 3 guys already lost for the season. And on top of that the injury report for non ending injuries is so long. This team can win a lot of games this year but only if it stays healthy. And right now it's really not

did anyone see what happened with the means injury? i didnt see how he got injured

Yes analytics doesn’t account for how inept our run game is!
Doesn’t account for many things. As I said analytics are an important tool in the tool box, but never should they be the only tool. As an example on the first 4th down try we were up by one score. (7-0). So either by TD or FG we would be up by two scores. Still early in the game but I would have rather given my team a two score lead at that point rather then taking the risk for a two TD lead, but hey, that’s just my opinion.

nah - that one i had zero doubts about
if you dont get it (and you dont have a fumble exchange issue like we did) they start their possession at the 1 foot line and that's so difficult for an offence to get out of that spot because even quick throws behind the line put you in jeopardy of a potential safety
what i hated was that we ran it again after getting stuffed 3 straight times

I've you drive your car only looking in your rearview mirror you're bound to crash sooner or later.

Did lamar even get sacked today?
did we have any negative plays in the passing game outside of the potential pick 6 that howard dropped?
That's the only one. I guess you can count a drop from Andrews and a drop from Likely. Then Duvernay getting concussed. But like yeah dude, beautiful pass pro and beautiful QB play.

Just putrid run offense and putrid defense

me too. I would have been okay with going for it if it was the second half and they were up two scores.

The play calling and/or execution on that series sucked for sure, and is a perfect example of why sometimes experience and intuition may be a better tool for Harbs to use in some instances. But he seems to be all in, all the time with the analytics.

i guess i just disagree that the intuition says kick the FG from the 1 foot line, analytics be damned im going for that 100 times out of 100 in that situation

Lamar was great. Duvernay did well. I liked what I saw from Likely but he's got work to do as expected since he is a rookie. Andrews is a beast. Our OL is pretty solid (not great but it is not bad). It is better in pass pro than in the run but the run isn't bad. The RBs are terrible. Drake and Davis are both bad. Didn't see much from Hill but I saw he had work today. I hope he surpasses Drake & Davis because they are next level bad.

Defense is what it is. Edge is a weakness, interior is solid but I think the defense was just gassed at the end. I put some of the blame on Hill & Waddle but it is also somewhat on our offense not staying on the field (i.e., run game failing to deliver yet predictable calls). I wasn't surprised the defense caved as it did. I for one believe that the defense wasn't that bad. Yes, it wasn't great but let's be real--it didn't get bad until the offense failed to keep up the momentum. That is when the wheels fell off the Defense. I feel the forced runs that weren't working causing TFLs is a huge contributing factor to this as well as those failures on 4th down. Didn't we have 2 or were they only 1?

Either way, not good. Some real issues to fix here. I'm a little surprised the run game still is eh but I guess it makes sense since Dobbins nor Edwards are back. It's funny because I remember some people saying at one time anyone could be back there and do well with Lamar. Guess not

If we get stuffed at the one on first, second, and third downs, I am not going for it there in the first quarter up 7. Maybe later on if we are down two scores, I risk another try, but not not if the situation was as I described.

Defense catching a lot of heat for this one and it's understandable.

But what about the botched snap that could of put us 14 to 0 at home, Also where was the offenses response to those 21 points scored in the 4th?
