The Random Thought Thread

A true random thought. We thought highly enough of Chris Westry last year to keep him on the 53 and develop him even through the injuries. We had an offer for him to return but he picked the Panthers. Now the guy is a FA and can't even get on a PS. Wild how quickly things can change in the NFL.

it is interesting to see that we didn't bring him on to our PS.

Rookie recap so far...

Kyle Hamilton - a slow start mentally but has really turned it on as of late and is playing with confidence and comfortability now. The physical was never really in question and he's proving himself worthy of pick 14. Looking forward to his continued development.

Tyler Linderbaum - most struggles have been related to the silent count on the road. But no concerns here whatsoever. Looks like a top 5 C already and should be in that discussion for most of his career.

David Ojabo - TBD

Travis Jones - he's probably been more quiet than we all had hoped. He's not making mistakes but also isn't making a big impact. He's flashed on occasion so you'd think there's still plenty of room to grow, but he has to be more consistent.

Daniel Faalele - back on the bench strictly for depth reasons. When he got to play, he performed admirably and even did so on the left side. Should take over the RT job in the next 1-2 years.

Jalyn Armour-Davis - struggled when he was forced on the field early this season and is just now getting another opportunity. He was never a 'day 1' guy so hopes still remain, but he's been probably the most "disappointing" rookie thus far.

Charlie Kolar - TBD

Jordan Stout - maddeningly inconsistent so far. Has had a few games where he looks like the best P in the league and others where he's been on the lower end of the spectrum. Hopefully he ends up more Koch than Zastudil.

Isaiah Likely - the most shocking contribution so far. Needs to clean up the drops but has been a dynamic threat as a TE. He'd probably be TE1 on more than half of the teams in the league right now.

Pepe Williams - some ups and downs but looks like a really solid rotational CB at a minimum, and could occupy the slot job full time with continued development.

Tyler Badie - on the PS

Of the 11 man class:
6 are contributing in a starting or rotational capacity, a couple with mixed results
1 is blocked by depth
1 is fighting his way back into the rotation after early struggles
2 haven't played due to injury but are in line soon
1 is on the PS

That's a damn good rookie class so far and we have 1 more hopefully premier talent waiting in the wings

What I’ll say about Travis is that he flashes consistently on the coaches film but it’s not yet showing up in terms of plays made which is understandable from a rookie

But it does kinda make me wonder how much even better this front 7 could/would be with Pierce in at nose

The thing is we developed him but I guess I would contend that it wasn’t through injuries - the injuries are what ended his ravens career

Anyone got any hot babes I can, uhhh huh huh (in butthead’s voice), do this weekend??

He is a huge loss to our D. I cannot understand why his loss isn't touted at all.

He was terrible for cowboys who had no cbs and still got cut.. idk why we thought it would change once he get here

he was terrible with the Cowboys, but he also wasn't a fit in their system. He wasn't bad here and he was being developed and also provided some height to our CB room as well.

Do you know how it probably feels to have been an assistant coach under Reich, have your guy fired, and then get passed over for a guy who didn't even have success as a HS football coach??

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, that team is clearly tanking, and it's probably not the best idea for an assistant coach with future coaching ambitions to take over a dumpster fire team that may not win many, if any, games the rest of the year.

That being said, yeah, they could have easily gone with somebody else. John Fox is on staff, among others.

The franchise should be penalized for not maintaining competitiveness. Hiring a guy like Jeff Saturday is the epitome of obvious tanking.

althought I'm not sure I agree with the second statement, I totally agree with the firstt statement and there have been many instances of a team doing better once a head coach is fired, although I'm not sure Indy will be the case.

Just look no further than the Panthers who are playing better with Wilks at the helm.
