Story doesn't shock me at all. You can tell he tries to put that clean image on for the cameras. Doesn't mean I think he's a scumbag, but never bought the "gosh golly" guy he presents in media.

He one hell of an actor for sure

Oh no! Harbaugh was angry at practice and cussed at a player? In light of this report he should certainly resign immediately.

I think we all knew Harbaugh was like that, with all the fines the Ravens used to get for too much hitting in practice. It might explain a few practice field injuries too.

Remember when he went off at Ben Cleveland for failing the conditioning test?

Are you quitting on me? Well, are you? Then quit, you slimy f-cking walrus-looking piece of sh-t! Get the f-ck off of my obstacle! Get the f--k down off of my obstacle! NOW! MOVE IT! Or I'm going to rip your balls off, so you cannot contaminate the rest of the world! I will motivate you, Pvt. Cleveland EVEN IF IT SHORT-D-CKS EVERY CANNIBAL ON THE CONGO!"

I mean its bad for a player if they understand basic $ management. It's the equivalent of winning the lottery and taking the annuity rather than the lump-sum. Pretty much no $ model anywhere that suggests its better to take the annuity.

It's only better for the player IF they suck at managing their $. And my argument then is that people who have gtd $ coming in the future are just as likely to go into debt now, knowing they have that future income stream.
I'd agree with that, but many players, if not the majority, across all sports suck at managing their money and the proof is with all the players that go bankrupt following retirement, which is why taking the money over an 8 years span (ie Strasburg) may not be that bad. It's not like the lifetime annuity with the lottery.

I guess. Davis isn't 8 years though. It's 15 years.

Any my point is if you're bad at $ management, giving them flatter amounts longer I don't think are going to change that. It may delay how long it takes for them to go broke, but more likely, they'll just take on debt now and pay it off later, which means they'll likely end up in the same spot.

Regardless, its great for the teams to do it this way. Despite what the public probably thinks.

Yeah, it's not like football where there's a cap. Being able to stretch out the salaries allows them to invest the $, in essence lessening the owner's salary expense.

It really depends on how their Accounting Systems work. From a P&L perspective, if they're using proper GAAP accounting, the expense is recognized when its earned. Cash basis is a different story.

Regardless, its a cash flow benefit above anything else.

@Mainejet if you are going to post here, please post random things in the random thought thread or the off topic thread. You've been posting here long enough to know that.

CBS has already announced their Week 1 announcer lineup. We get Spero Dedes & Adam Archuleta to start the year.

Edit: Apparently CBS announced the first few weeks and somehow Ravens-Bengals in Week 2 wasn't good enough to get either Nantz/Romo or even Kevin Harlan. WTF.

Well, couple things on week 2:
a) I know the NFL is trying to ditch the whole "AFC on CBS, NFC on Fox" thing, though apparently they're still pretty much sticking closely to it.
b) in week 2, Jets @ Cowboys is on CBS in the late-afternoon slot, so I would imagine that would the Romo/Nantz game for obvious reasons. Will be the most watched game of the week by a gigantic margin most likely.
c) even for the "B team", Chiefs @ Jaguars is in the same timeslot as us.

I personally never really give a fuck who's broadcasting these games.

you definitely are in the minority on caring who is broadcasting a game.
