The Lamar, The Defence and The Special Teams

So this is interesting. People like @rmcjacket23 have said for a long time the "half time adjustment" thing is a relatively big myth. And I'll say certainly I have 100% agreed with that. How much could you really diagnose and convey in 15 whole minutes?

With that being said in his presser Harbs said they were expecting pressure because they were successful with it in the first game. However, they changed some things up on us. Then at the half he said "we had to flip into some different protections" because of their unique way of doing things this game.

And like clockwork, OL protection was 1 million percent better. Which I guess goes to show, maybe half time adjustments are more possible than previously expected. In this case it was dramatic. I was wondering all second half how things could be so different, but it seems like there was some very substantial changes that were made meaningfully to do it.

Kudos to Joe D and the crew for getting it done.
I don’t think they went in and changed the script per se, but I think we finally have a coaching staff that plans for different scenarios and is able to adjust more easily. Feels like some of our past coaching failures were committing to a game plan and sticking to it. On offense in particular, we’ve mixed “identities” all season. One game could be completely different from the other, so switching up isn’t as drastic of a change as it has been in years past.

They get 15 minutes between the start of the first and second half and some of that time is spent simply getting in and out of the locker room. By the time they get in and get settled, they might have 10 minutes.

They're not making wholesale, massive changes in those 10 minutes. Much of those 10 minutes is spent just working with positional coaches on the small things.

Realistically, Monken and MacDonald should be evaluating the flow of the game as it unfolds and make changes in real time. It's difficult to do in-drive, but as the game unfolds, you should expect to see the gameplan morph.

Aaron Jones wirh a Derrick Henry type of run, only thing missing is stiff arming the safety out of the NFL.

See this makes so much sense. And this is what I meant when I say we've talked about a long time it being a sort of myth.

But I think it's kind of unavoidable evidence when Harbs said what he did. When Lamar said he was cussing it up to the offense. When Likely says you listen to your leader. Nelly and Zay echoing that. When Ronnie says the OL talked and made sure everyone knew what they were going to try and do in the second half. When Lamar said he was discussing with Monken what he saw and wanted to do second half.

It can clearly be meaningful. Even in a short time.

Bruh… how did I miss this?

Lamar was so pissed at Ronnie for not blocking downfield and getting in his way.. dude didn’t wanna take his hand and got up on his own. LMFAO
