There's a lot to be frustrated about. First the offensive line, they did seem to settle down once the game got going, it's going to improve over the course of the season but it's not encouraging seeing that we are one missed block/assignment from Lamar getting injured again. This is on EDC, being one game away from the Super Bowl is not the time to just rebuild the offensive line from scratch. I'll get to Harbaugh's lack of snaps in the preseason for the starting OL in a bit....
If there will be any similarities to 2012, it might be the fact we end up firing our Offensive Coordinator. There were a lot of bad play calling, and I mean bad. Very questionable decisions like why are we not running the ball more, why is Henry not out there more? Where is Andrews most of the game? You talked in training camp about utilizing BOTH of them on the field AT THE SAME TIME, yet we did not see that at all. If you give any other Head Coach in this league, Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Mark Andrews, Likely, Flowers, Bateman, our offense would actually reach the potential it has.
Harbaugh has been a problem for years. He got stale a long time ago, any other Head Coach in this league would have took the teams we had in 2019 & 2023 and won Super Bowls with them. We continue to see the same mistakes year in, year out with Harbaugh. We see the dumb penalties every year that seemingly should have been fixed but doesn't get fixed because bone headed penalties still keep costing this team. That is on coaching, not giving your starting OL snaps in the preseason so they can get snaps in in an actual game before the season, especially when it's a young line like we got is questionable. Not knowing why you aren't running the ball more, why isn't a certain runningback not getting more snaps, why we suddenly stop running the ball in the playoffs, etc. At some point, Biscotti has got to make the call and fire Harbaugh, yes he may not want to do it but this team, this locker room needs a fresh voice in that locker room. I would even say, we need an offensive minded Head Coach who can make the most of the talent we have on offense. Andy Reid to John Harbaugh is what Ohio State used to be to Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh finally beat Ohio State... will John finally beat the Chiefs when it matters most in January?
To put a bow on it, despite everything I said above, somehow I can't be that mad about the loss. This is one of those losses that you can take something away from and become a better team because of it. A loss like this, can be a positive thing. Look at the Chiefs last year, they lost to the Raiders on Christmas and used that loss as motivation to eventually end up winning the Super Bowl. For John Harbaugh, this loss can be what makes this team into a Super Bowl Champion by February or this loss sets the tone for what might be his last season as Head Coach. Which path will you choose John?
