The Refs, the OL, and the Coaching

When you look at the schedule, this was one you had to win. It only gets tougher.

I hate blaming the refs. But how does one team get tagged for 15yds in penalties and the other 109?
I hate blaming them too. Where they killed us was the Pass Interference in the endzone at the end. Adams grabbed our guy and when our guy grabbed him back, the flag came out. When the WR initiates the contact, all bets are off. Gene Steratore said as much.

But, we should have never been in that situation. The play calling with 3rd and 1 with 5 minutes left when we were grooving the yards, was stopped by a STUPID play call that set us back to a 3rd and 6 and we had to punt. THAT lost us the game.

11 blown 4th quarter leads of 7+ points in the last 5 seasons is absolutely absurd
leads the NFL - i'm assuming by a wide margin (no idea who 2nd place was)

that has to fall on Harbs to answer for
Nine of those were 10+ leads.

It's also lovely that the Raiders had lost 46 games straight when trailing by 10+ in the fourth until today.

Offense is bad, which obviously begins with the offensive line. It felt like Andrews and Likely were missing for large portions of the game.

The defense is generally good, but they have lapses at times. They also give up some explosive plays at times.

The refs sucked, but we could’ve overcome them.

I have a real question and I'm not trolling!

How do you have an entire team meltdown like that?

The offense penalized itself and went 3 and out twice when it literally only needed 1 first down.

But then the defense gave up 2 4th quarter TDs. On drives where they had multiple sacks. They also penalized themselves.

Then special teams was atrocious too. Missed FGs, 24 yard punt, taking a KR to the 15 yard line.
Also having a penalty on the 24 yard punt which made it 19 yards.

How can you have a collapse of that magnitude. It was all 3 phases of the game. And this was against a bottom 3rd team while we were at home AND coming off a loss.

EDIT

And the coaching? Early in the game there was no effort to double Crosby from Monken.

Late in the game there was no help for Stephens on Adams.

Harbs wasted 2 TOs on brain dead challenges.

This game just showed it should have been Cleveland and Rosengarten from the beginning

if we're gonna start 0-2 at least have it be related to developing a line that can hopefully be better at the end of the season

idk what Cleveland's done, but it can't be worse than what Faalele's doing to this offence
This is my gripe. We're wasting snaps and losing. Get the other guys in and leave them in. Let Roger get his bumps and bruises and give Ben the look at RG.

At that point it’s on Harbaugh

The lack of attention to the offensive line this season has destroyed it.

DeCosta and management should take responsibility for the season that they have ruined .
Bringing in Henry with a bad offensive line is ridiculous.

The play call was fine , Henry false started twice today

and more to the point - stylistically he just doesnt seem to fit what they want to do on offence - his slow-feet are not a fit with what they seem to want him to do at guard in the running game and his processing and quickness off the ball are not good enough in the pass game

let Cleveland play

feels like stubbornness to persevere with this project now that we've seen what it looks like - could legitimately argue that this project at RG has cost us 2 games
I feel like it's also some stubbornness related to a long-term plan - if Faalele can play RG, you have him for 2 years vs. 1 year of Cleveland before he hits FA. Just play the best players. I don't know that Cleveland is gonna be anything halfway decent but Faalele isn't. And this is me saying this after going to bat for him (or kinda) in preseason. The experiment isn't going to work.
