2024 Baltimore Orioles

I would say the Yankees likely will win the division but they too have their struggles so it's going to be close. O's really need a good week next week to build some kind of momentum before heading to NY on the 24th. I do wonder though if us getting a Wild Card spot would be better as it helped the Rangers last year. Perhaps, get a Wild Card and become the hot team that goes on a run.

I kind of hope they get the Wildcard too. I feel like if they get a break they're going to cramp up...

The really odd thing about this season is how bad both the Orioles and Skanks have been since before the AS Break. Both are below .500 in that stretch. If either team had been healthy, they would have run away with it. And that's only because no team has really had a good second half. I still have ptsd from the damn Royals from 2012, tho. So them getting crushed by the Skanks would be completely acceptable to me if they make the WC. They are 7-3 over their last 10...

Edit - I think if things remain the same, and we get a WC, we would actually face the Royals in the WC round. The Twins would get the Astros. Ugh. The Skanks and Indians would be on the beach for a few days...

The slide continues. Maybe DFAing Kimbrel will oddly give some sort of spark, but with so many guys injured it's going to be tough.

Yeah, this has been a Jekyll and Hyde season - no pun intended there. We had such a great start with great pitching no injuries, yadayada. It's been a rough May and June with pitching and, in general, subpar second half. I don't think the players we gained in trades have panned out, but two are pitchers that we'll have to start the year with, so maybe they can right themselves even more. But this second half has been dismal and the only reason we remain close is because the Skanks have been as shitty or more than we have since the AS break. I won't be surprised if we miss the Playoffs, but that would be hard. I'll be surprised if we make it thru the Wildcard.

As the kids say today........ we're cooked.... or seem to be.

Shoulda sent Holliday on that weird Santander pop-out in the 9th. You can't guess that the SS misses that and be down the line toward home... It looked like a potential collision, but you have to play for a catch, so Holliday should have been on 3rd base ready to tag. When he caught it and fell, Holliday should have been gone. No WAY they get the ball home with a ball thrown from his ass to a relay to home. No way. Shoulda won that game.

...but this is our reality. We don't win close games.

He’s just not a good player right now. Not sure why Soto wasn’t at 2nd yesterday.

Well this is it, the final 6 games of the regular season. 3 games against the Yankees and 3 games against the Twins this weekend. The Division looks out of reach as the Yankees can clinch the AL East tonight with a win in the first game of the series. Dean Kremer is starting tonight with Eflin & Burnes finishing out the series in NY. Orioles have a 4 game lead on the Tigers for the first Wild Card Spot in the AL, and their magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 2.

I don't even care about the Division anymore. I'd like to take 2/3 from the Skanks, just because they're the Skanks. We just have to win enough to maintain the first WC. If we do that, who knows. I'm not really expecting a lot, tho. It's tough after a 162 game season to feel like you have little chance, but I feel like we've been bobing on the ocean with our just nose above water since early July. We've had too many meaningful injuries to really even be where we are, but thinking this pitching is going to get us thru to a WS is almost hoping for beyond a miracle to me.

Everything going the Orioles way tonight. A win and a Royals or Twins loss will clinch a playoff spot for the Orioles tonight. Last time the Orioles made the playoffs in back to back seasons... 1996 & 1997.

Yeah I feel your pain. I give little chance we go anywhere. Its not we have been on a roll like the Rangers were last year.
That's the thing, if the Orioles can get on a roll and build some momentum... anything can happen. With the Orioles getting healthier, I think there is a chance to do some damage as a Wild Card team.

Why can't Baltimore sports team just finish their opponent off? Stop making things stressful, it all seems a certain that the Marlins will hold on and beat the Twins which would clinch a playoff spot for the Orioles.
