It all comes down to Brandon Hyde mismanaging games, overthinking pitching and the hitting coaches who apparently aren't doing their job. Fire everyone. Elias can stay for now, but something has got to give with Hyde and the staff.
 
Well, it's all over. The long suffering has ended. I am now triggered by yet another KC team for eternity. Of the 9 consecutive Playoff losses over the past DECADE, 6 have come from the KC Royals. We are lap dogs and have no fight. That has to change... along with hitting philosophy and conditioning for pitchers. It's still kind of shocking that 4 opening day starters were out before the quarter post of the season with elbow injuries.
 
I knew they were gonna lose (100 % chance) and I felt the same way last year against Houston.

Changes must be made.

Yeah, huge letdown after a long season, but not surprising given the poor form of late. The spiral started with Mateo going down, followed by just a remarkable rash of injuries, one after the other. Team chemistry is fickle, and hard to get back once it's gone. You could see guys were pressing at the plate, which is never good.

Conditioning for pitchers? I don't know much about it, but I'm not sure conditioning can prevent the elbow issues many pitchers experience. I think we just have had a run of bad fortune. And even though we had some big home run numbers, our guys know(or knew, lol) situational hitting and did well there through the first half of the season.

For me the all of the injuries and subsequent personnel shifting is what doomed the season. And while certainly a disappointment, I think we have the right guys running the show and am confident they will get over the hump soon. It wasn't that long ago we were perpetual cellar dwellers.

I did go to the game last night, had great seats and had a great time with my son up until the last out. Turned around once while leaving to see the KC celebration, and felt like puking. lol

Mike Elias confirms that Brandon Hyde will return as manager next season. Yay... another wasted year incoming and soon all our top prospects will be in New York or LA.
 
I think it's just going to boil down to that this is that season where they won 90 games and that's about all that can be said for it. It was marred by injuries almost from the start. I don't know that it's a manager thing, but they didn't look like they were really going after something since late June or early July. I hate that after saying he was fine, Adley seems to be hinting or Hyde suggesting now that he wasn't 100% most of the season. I kind of suspected that from a few of them, but who knows. Unlike wanting Harbaugh gone, I don't think 90 games is anything to sneeze at, so considering the injuries, I'm actually kind of amazed how well we did - despite being swept out of the Playoffs again. I do think they need to have a few players that have some real experience and some FIRE. They seemed like they were just lolling along a lot of the year. But if that is how good they can be basically uninspired, imagine some fire and I think we are still on the right track.

I'm all about folks pulling for and supporting their favorite team, but this is just egregious. You could have posted this shiz in the MLB thread instead of here. WTF Mili? lol
