per PFF top 3 rated defensive guys were Higgins, Martin and Simpson, with Green right below them
preseason grades are always a bit weird because they don't adjust for quality of competition

1. That scares me
2. Maybe the most important trait for an edge rusher and he’s got it
Sounds like he started to come on a bit before getting hurt and think they like the idea of a young guy to develop if he can get healthy. No guarantees there at all. Still think I’d have him on the wrong side of the bubble, but Kone going down kind of reopened the door for a guy like Longerbeam.idk that longerbeam changes anything based on the earlier offseason reporting of how he was doing
but jones certainly would
I’ll say, I don’t have a lot of guys I think have a legitimate shot at the 53 at this stage. Lots of guys that are hoping for an injury in front of them.Only real question I've got now vs what you have already after preseason game 1 is Dalcourt/Samac vs Ali
and as you say, there's also the hypothetical 11th DB veteran safety (think brade's probably safe on the 53 because of special teams)
reports on lowery were good early but the fact he entered the game with the other deep backups and didn't get any play with the 2nd team DB rotation suggests he might be a lot lower
kirkwood and wade definitely the next 2 on at WR but i dont think either have any real shot at the 53 but certainly expect them to make the practice squad
I think you're right that Emery Jones being on the 53 wouldn't kick off another OL, it would kick someone off at a different position
Any guards in free agency still thats worth taking a look at?Im so excited about this team because if it can stay healthy I feel like its weaknesses are so few and far between.
I really think Harbs should gove the starting OGs more reps based on what happened last game
Put a fork in Dreary Leary . He done.He was absolutely trash last night with a QBR of 7.3

I didn’t make mention of them in the original post, but I want to keep an eye on Ravenell and Okoye over the next few weeks because if they can stack impressive performances, I don’t think a 74 year old John Jenkins and Brent Urban are going to prevent that.
Standouts for me from preseason week 1:
LaJohntay Wester (obviously)
Keaton Mitchell (please don't overuse this guy in preseason)
Jalyn Armour-Davis
Mike Green
Adisa Isaac
CJ Okoye
Aeneas Peebles
Corey Bullock
Make sure our fax machines workQadry compared Green to Dumervil. I actually really like that comparison
It’s amazing the opportunities that open for other players when you have 1 consistent pass rusherHave a good feeling about run game(obviously) and pass rush this season. Green can instantly change how we generate pressure and it sounds like Jones has improved as well. That alone should be open it especially if Oweh can use that weight to his advantage.
Also feels good to have a returner who will actually return kicks.
I hadn't really heard about Okoye prior to him signing here, but the reports out of Chargers camp from last year seem to indicate that he looked really good against the PS types but didn't do much with reps against NFL level players. Would be curious to see him get some earlier reps, because game 1 made it look like there might be something there.okoye flashed and ravenell also had a nice game
but okoye had some absolute highlights upfront and it also feels like they were trying to test his conditioning by getting him to rotate in all night
Comparison with Elvis was always hard for me because of his height.Qadry compared Green to Dumervil. I actually really like that comparison
