Joe Flacco

Now that we have had 3 decent offense games, would this be a breakout......... @Militant X 1

Naw man! I ain't ready to "crown" their asses (in my Dennis Green voice) with that "breakout" label just yet! Let's see how things go on Saturday vs the colts.

Pulling this one off of page two.

See if we can get some Flacco appreciation going on here.

First off we knew he was coming back from injury and would thus start slow.

Secondly, starting slow amd turning it on come playoff time has sort of been the hallmark of his career anyway.

Third, while the receiver play has been awful (I counted 4 drops yesterday for instance), the OLine is finally playimg better (not great because there were a couple plays that were 1 easy block from being a huge gain) and that's a huge deal.

Fourth, with this better OLine play has come a willingness to open up playbook and start using deep passes, more which has worked very well.

Joe was pretty bad working through the injuries, recovery and headuphisass thing, but it’s pretty amazing he’s broken through given the rag tag bunch he has to throw to. Mike showed up Sunday, great to see that and hopefully he continues with some consistency. It’s gonna take others to step as well for them to continue the upswing. And it needs to be said that the reports of Flacco’s demise were greatly exaggerated. ^_^

It sure did not look good for quite a while but I'm happy he got out of funk.

Joe has been playing much better as of late. The zip is back on his throws.

I never had any doubt but to be fair, our offensive play calling changed a lot right about the time he got rid of the brace.

which was what made me want to wait and see - but joe just looks more comfortable in the pocket, moves better, mechanics look better - footwork looks like a completely different qb (even when he throws off his back foot he's doing it sensibly in the face of the rush or to set up the screen/checkdown etc.) and he really is stepping into his throws so nicely now

Just don’t ruin it by having him run, unless it’s a safe draw

Play calling has gotten better, but I think still leaves a lot to be desired.
I agree but do we have the personnel to go full monty? Running game is OK when the pass works but between disappearing receivers (including tight ends) and some wild passes still thrown by Joe, I reckon we are at about the right balance now.

Joe has progressively gotten better at eliminating dumb mistakes over the past 5 weeks and as a result has played vastly better. Does this mean he is ascending into form? I sure hope so. As for the myriad articles out there speaking of Joe's playoff form, I don't buy that one bit. I think he gets the feel for the game as the season wears on given corrections and so forth along the way. He seems to improve in his decision making and confidence that results in him playing good football in December/January. I am thinking it will be the same this eyar.

I kinda want to go back to the "bench him" and "Cut him" posts and see who said what.

I mean, to be fair to the people who said that, Joe was flat out horrible earlier this year. I don’t really blame anyone for saying that and I was pretty much ready to hop on that bandwagon. Luckily for all of us he’s picked up his game and I’m very happy with him.

its not just that he's eliminating dumb mistakes, it's that his footwork looks better, his mechanics look better, and he's actually reading the field and making decisions rather than fixating on a receiver/checkdown

Nothing have changed for anyone to go back on what they said lol. Still lost to the steelers and have yet to beat an worthy team

pretty sure joe flacco did enough to beat the steelers given that the steelers game was the first time in steelers history they've ever conceded 38 points or more and won
