I need help. I'm going to have some free time next weekend and I want to play some games. Currently, I've started playing Flower, Assassin's Creed 1, and Uncharted 1. But, I just got The Last of Us. I know @29BmoreBird22 really liked it.

Should I start The Last of Us, or should I finish the other games first? I really have to finish Assassin's Creed because I've had it for a couple years.
Last of us takes precident. Always

To me, Assassins Creed was a very unique and fun game, but way too repetitive, the first one especially. Go to three areas and do the exact same type of missions and kill someone. If you need to fight, counter with the hidden blade. AC2 cleaned up many issues with the series, but the series as a whole is the same with a different setting.

Uncharted and LoU are by the same company, so you'll love both. Very, very good games.

dont bother finishing assassin's creed 1 - or if you do at least think of it more like a beta for the better games in the rest of the series - assasins creed 2 and assassins creed black flag are the best two so far

likewise i feel similarly about uncharted 1 - you can probably just skip it and start uncharted 2 because as with assassins creed they sort out a lot of the issues of the 1st one

but holy crap, if you have the chance to play the last of us, just play it... it's storytelling that's so good it might change your life - it's better and more engaging and emotive character-driven storytelling better than a lot of mainstream film and tv - and if at all possible dont watch any trailers because it'll make the beginning of the game that much more interesting and shocking and brutal

I'm having trouble really getting into Assassin's Creed. I may give it another go after I play the Last of Us.

I like Uncharted, but I'm still getting used to the combat. I find it difficult to fight all of the bad guys at some points. I'll either run out of ammo or I'll just be stuck trying to shoot someone. Hopefully I'll get better as I play more.

I'd suggest skipping the end of assassins creed and starting assassins creed 2 in stead - it's probably still the best of that series even now - and the first assassins creed isn't really indicative of the story or gameplay of the rest of the series

Uncharted's combat mechanics are probably the worst thing about it in the whole series (that and the 1 dimensional climbing until the 4th one) but they do improve after the first game - the 4th probably has the best story and best gameplay of the series but 2 and 3 do good things too but are probably weaker on the whole

But yeah the last of us is where it's at - when I saw the announcement trailer for the sequel I nearly teared up and that only ever happens when I watch Star Wars

I almost screamed when the Firefly symbol was first shown

If you think the excessive combat in this game is bad, wait until you hit 3. That game had me so mad because I died more than I ever have in a game.

I thought it was just me being bad at games, haha. It's good to know that there is more fun to look forward to.

From my manga experience, always finish before it's too late.

I mean, you're trying to go after the same treasure as a massive army of people, so fighting many people along the way is understandable.

Just, be prepared to replay a level like 10 times and learn exactly where each enemy is and the best order to tackle them.

Started another playthrough through the Uncharted games and I have to say, I'm not seeing what's so bad about the combat

its more to do with how many enemies there are, how bullet spongey they are, the locking you into a sequence of melee moves in the first couple of games which leave you frustratingly vulnerable, the lack of choice in melee (it feels cool because of its use of environment and its cinematic feel but oftentimes is just smooshing a load of buttons that might as well be prompted)

thats not to say its that bad - its just the weakest part of an incredible franchise in my opinion

Fair enough

The best part of Horizon's combat is how you have to approach every enemy differently. No two encounters feel the same. Especially with how different components can be broken to damage specific parts of the machine
