Practice Squad
Griff Whalen?

More like Miff Whalen, amirite? Kidding, of course. I hope .Gif Whalen does well for us.

And you missed a really easy one here.... how about Whiff Whalen, cuz he really whiffed on that play/block.

It's actually pretty incredible that Camp doesn't run out of chances. Have to assume at this point he'll need to have the greatest preseason in NFL history to have a shot at the roster.

Campanaro is being placed on the PUP list for a toe injury
Seriously.
How can you not feel bad for the guy?
It is a shame. I think the guy could be really good. He seems like a great guy who just can't catch a break in the NFL.

What kind of name is Giff anyway?

I personally never understood all the hate he's gotten. It's like people think he's injured on purpose.

Well, we have a better ST coordinator, so hopefully .gif Whalen won't be put in that situation again. Although, if Camp comes back from his injury, maybe Whalen can be our starting center.

Welcome to Baltimore Whalen! Unfortunately for .Gif Whalen, I could not find a positive gif of him.

I'm really warming up on Woodhead. It's going to be so much better to dump it off to him instead of Pitta or Juice.
I liked this move from the start and feel he is going to be an extremely important piece for our offense and for Dixon.

Since we have this thread, I must say I firmly believe the addition of Roman is absolutely huge for our offense. Let's be perfectly honest, the problem last year and the year before was not the personnel. I could name 5 or 6 offenses that would dream to have our starting 11 and that are still performing better than us. Why? Because they have balance. We did not. Because even if we gain 2 yards per run, we still absolutely need to do it. How do you expect your QB to be well protected if there are 90% chances he's going to pass and you can blitz at will? How do you expect him, in this situation, to air it out as he should? How do you expect your deep threats to be of any used if the QB doesn't even have the confort to sit down abd look their way? You don't.

Which is why, for our RB, our OL, but also for Flacco and the WR, Romans addition is as good as they come. Because, despite what people think, Morninhweg loves to run. He historically did that a lot. With Roman here to design plenty schemes, we will run. Better playcalling=more balance=defenses on their heels=better results in every area. And that is what we get in Roman. Which could easily get us a top15 offense.

I just wanna clear up that the whole griff Whalen play wasn't his fault. I googled this the other day. The original snapper on that play got injured the quarter before this and Whalen had never practiced this play.

The idea of the play was to sprint 9 players to the sideline and make the patriots think they were sending their offense back out, forcing a quick sub and hoping to catch 12 players on the field, Whalen wasn't supposed to snap it if it didn't work, but he never practiced the play

I was wondering what was up with that.

the key to the receiver corp will be breshad. if he shows significant improvement than they will be a strong group. i expect moore to progress as well.

Agreed on Perriman.
Less optimistic on Moore, I like him but with his skillset he'll have to wait for one of the top three to not be available. I think year 3 is where he will really start to produce. His ability to separate is really underrated though.

I'm intrigued by what Griff may have to offer but my expectations are low. He did flash signs of being a solid move the chains receiver as a rookie but he could never put it together and keep it together.

Oh what the hell. Let's break these guys down too!.

RBs
Terrence West-Surprisingly underrated. Not my favorite running back in the world, but is a fringe number one. Hands improve over last year, decent vision. Won't be a star, but most teams would not complain if he was the #1.

Kenneth Dixon- The most talented of the bunch. Has an awesome ability to make the first guy he comes across miss, and has a "I will knock you on your fucking ass" mindset if a defender approaches him. Great reciever out of the backfield as well. Too bad he's a dumbass and got suspended. If we can get this guy an offensive line where he goes untouched for the first four yards... Good luck.

Danny Woodhead- Second best recieving back in the league behind Sproles when healthy? Possibly. Great after the catch, solid runner as well, good route runner. Flacco is going to love him. I feel SO much more comfortable with the checkdowns going his way than the a stiff Pitta. He alone might actually help us win one or two more games because if he can stay healthy, we might actually convert some more third downs. The most underrated pickup of the offseason? Oh hell yes he is.

Buck Allen- Why the fuck is he still here? Seriously, he's a damn good recieving back who has value elsewhere. This is an issue of overcrowding. Further, why didn't we convert him to a WR when we got the chance? He's sure handed, solid after the catch. I feel bad because I like the guy a lot. Le sigh. Not that good of a runner, but will probably get a chance elsewhere when we cut him because of Dixon's return.

Lorenzo Taliafero- Hated him when we drafted him: still useless to me. Don't trust him at FB. Completely useless outside a ZBS. Send him to fucking Shannahan in San Francisco for a useless practice squad player for all I care. This is my "I told you so" moment. And I don't get these very often so HA.

Now to WRs.
Jeremy Maclin- God bless the stupidity of the Kansas City Cheifs. First, they trade up for the rawest QB prospect in a terrible QB draft, and then they release Maclin(a guy who'd be integral in Mahomes' development imo), a receiver who has some of the better hands in the league, is a great route runner, and is very good after the catch? Flacco is jumping for motherfucking joy right now. We have a guy who can go over the middle on third downs that ISN'T a statue anymore. Given the next two people on the list, the middle is going to be more open. And that's a a terrifying thought for opposing defenses when they realize that someone like Maclin is going over the middle and can turn a 10 yard catch into a 30 yard gain.

Mike Wallace-"Lost said he was one of the ten fastest WRs in the NFL. He's so fucking stupid". Well... He's certainly up there in speed terms still. Even if his hands are inconsistent, teams HAVE to respect his elite speed. And yes, his speed is still fucking elite. I hope he has another year left, because it seems like him and Flacco have a legit rapport with one another and HE LIKES IT HERE. But now the opposing offensive coordinators are going to have to worry about putting their number two corners with safety help on a guy who can go get a deep bomb at any given point in time. And even then, against Wallace sometimes safety help isn't enough.

Breshad Perriman- Ah. The man crush of -Truth-. Most know that I'm a fan. It's easy to see why. We already have a clear cut #1 WR in Maclin. Wallace would be a good #2 on most teams in the league. And then you have a freakishly athletic superstud as your third guy who is ready to breakout faster than Michael Schofield in Guantanamo. I know it's just minicamp, but EVEN THEN it looks like his routes have improved signifcantly. Which is massive new for the offense. He's already one of the fastest players in the NFL, he's already proven he can make incredible catches, he's shown a willingness to go over the middle, and it looks like his route running has improved. And there are some plays where a 6'3 freak of nature is going to go up against slot CBs? Perriman: PLEASE STAY HEALTHY. We have two good WRs without you, if he breaks out.. Our WR corps becomes one of the best in the league.

Chris Moore- Bold prediction time: Moore does very well this season. He's flashed good route running, he's already fast guy. But those damn hands. Hopefully his issues are rep related and the more he plays: the better he gets. He has the potential to be a rock solid WR at the NFL level, and if he develops.. Have fun.

Griff Whalen- Rock solid return man who is shifty and a solid route runner: quality depth and nothing more imo.

Michael Campanaro- After spending a summer on an island working on his nutrition(apparantly)... He's still injury prone. He's gone and it's a shame. Here's to hoping Bellicheck doesn't get a hold of him and uses his voodoo magic powers to make him stay healthy because he's a legit talent.
