Report: Jets rescind offer to Ndamukong Suh
5593.jpg

Jets CEO Christopher Johnson told reporters at the NFL Owners Meetings the team has rescinded their offer to free agent Ndamukong Suh.

The Jets initially emerged as the top landing spot for Suh given their abundance of cap space. New York had reportedly presented the "biggest offer" to him, but it's possible Suh was only using the team to leverage an even larger offer from the Rams, who now appear to be the favorites to sign him. The Titans also remain in the mix.

It was pretty impressive that they were able to do as much as they did in the second half of last season. If freakin Maclin could have at least just contributed they would have probably been in the playoffs easily.

Whole heartedly agree about the importance of rhythm. It seemed every time they were having some success a drop, penalty or some other screw up killed it.

what was most impressive about the resurgence was how often we started to see success late in the year on obvious passing 3rd downs which is traditionally not a strength - so much of that was down to this alignment: Wallace, Moore, Camp, Watson, Woodhead - 4 of those guys are gone and the other guy will hopefully be the 4th wide receiver at best this upcoming season...

we need collins to learn some route running from the slot/out wide and continue to improve his pass blocking and blitz pickup or we are gonna have to find a 3rd down specialist back or we know that kenneth dixon can do it and we trust him

we need to find a seam-stretching tight end (or any pass catching option at tight end)

we need more wrs - and specifically we need a slot receiver either a bigger guy or a shiftier guy - i still am not convinced the front office wont bring camp back at least to get him to compete if they cant get a slot with a better history of health and production

Ok so what is Suh going to play in a 3-4 defense? Nose Tackle or is he going to kick out to DE like Donald? Also I'm curious to how this will impact Donald's long term contract if they give Suh a ton of money.

adding to this - our passing game was at its best towards the end of the year when we were in the spread offence - sometimes even with no back sets (danny woodhead lining up out wide or in the slot)... the ravens are always at their best when they spread the ball around to a diverse group of receivers who mesh well together - and we did that with one of the worst wr corps in the league

id absolutely hope that we run some more spread concepts and use a little more uptempo/no huddle - i think it helps flacco get in rhythm and he's so much better in rhythm
I could not agree more. When Joe is in a rhythm spreading the ball around, he can really move the chains. Joe is also pretty good with the rollouts.

i wanna see us threatening the seam off play action - i feel like we've been missing that since pitta's second hip injury in 2014
i wanna see us feature more interior routes from the slot (but that requires us to acquire a slot receiver)

essentially i want to see more intermediate throws to the inside - i feel like that's the type of offence that joe's gonna thrive in because it opens up space on the outside and creates space underneath too - if we can establish a threat to the middle of the field somehow early on this year i think this offence has a chance - but at the moment we have fewer receiving options going into this year than we did even last year (hopefully another free agent pickup or a big haul of skill position players in the draft will change that outlook drastically)

Flacco has stated many times that he prefers playing an uptempo offense. Now I understand you don't always want to run it because it can backfire quickly and hurt your defense, but I don't why we can't every now and then to catch the defense off guard (the Pats are masters at this).

To @rossihunter2 's point about the seam, this is why I don't trust Maxx and Boyle much. Neither of these dudes pose a threat because of their lack of speed. I don't care which TE, but as long as we can get one that can attack defense from the seam, I'm good.

To piggyback off both of you guys, it still amazes me that we had a top scoring offense in the month of December with the "WR corps" we had. I maintain the stance of double-dipping, but I'd like for one of them to be a slot receiver who can play outside.

Honestly..... I’m all for this. He’s a diva but a diva in the way Steve Smith was. Leaves all of his shit talking and antics on the field and plays with fire. He’s better than any WR in this draft could possibly hope to be and is so damn good that he can carry an offense by himself....

It won’t happen. But I’d give my first rounder for the dude and extend him no questions asked

I've talked much shit about this guy... That said, it's all been off field stuff and would easily trade the first for him if an extension could be worked out. Don't care what we pay him. Like you said, won't happen.

He’s an established elite player with the rest of his career ahead of him. I’ll take him in a heartbeat

i was a big fan of odb coming out. He was my number 1 wr coming out. He is very nice but i still wouldnt take him. its literally gonna do us no good. He not gonna be able to produce those same numbers over here which is gonna drive him crazy! like someone else here said, id take a few number 2 wrs than someone of odb caliber and that big ass contract

i mean tbf he's in one of the few situations where even after last year, he could come to the ravens offence and find better qb play... eli manning was abysmal last year (and the year before)

that being said we'd never give up the requisite capital or give him the extension he'd want not to hit free agency

What? The Ravens with an elite WR not even entering his peak and just starting his prime?

Not possible...

we had the probably the easiest schedule of the whole nfl and still couldnt make the playoffs or even beat a playoff caliber team! Even in the 1st 4 games of season you could see that we werent a good team! Nothing good came from last season, from offseason to seasons end. Terrible

Most of that was because Joe Flacco wasn't healthy and The Ravens receivers weren't good. Young guys that were expected to step up didn't. It doesn't matter how easy or hard the schedule is but if players aren't making plays then a team is going to find it hard to win games.
