Welcome to the Ravens, Hayden Hurst and Lamar Jackson

Can't put my finger on it but I fully believe Lamar Jackson will be a huge success in the NFL. It's probably his confidence coupled with his incredible talent that makes me feel this way. Also it doesn't hurt that we now have a dedicated QB coach in Urban who's worked with Vick before as well as Roman who's had experience with both Kaepernik and Tyrod. This kid if my intuition is correct will transform Baltimore's offensive football and more likely the entire NFL with his talent.

I really like the way he's carrying himself so far; even when reporters are constantly asking him about possibly playing at other positions or trying to get him to say something about possibly taking Flacco's job, he's not letting any of it bother him and is saying all the right things. I'm definitely pulling for him to succeed whenever the time comes (whether it's this year or two years down the line).

I think it's helped him that Ozzie & Marty have had their say on the issue after he was drafted, that must give him a lot of confidence. I can't remember which one of them it was but they said (paraphrasing): "he's a quarterback, end of." The journalists in the room were expecting a lengthy response and instead got only a handful of words.

I think there is a lot here to like with having Jackson. Really like this situation for him and he could be really fun to watch when he takes over whenever that is.

Yeah, Marty said that during the introductory press conference. Still though, I'm impressed with how well Jackson is handling himself so far and I really like his attitude. He's very likable and seems like he should be easy to coach for Urban and Marty to work on his mechanics.

They also mentioned it during the process before there was any mention of him with the ravens

Ozzie also mentioned that Lamar was a QB on their board at the combine.

First footage of hurst at practice and he just looks like the gods designed a human being specifically for football. Like an actor casted in a football movie. He's fucking huge, and chiseled, and he moves so easily and catching looks so natural to him.

My gut instinct on Hayden hurst is a strong one.

Big fan of the Jackson Pick, I would have been happy with him at sixteen.

First thing he needs to learn is to slide and not go for try juke at the end of a run.

I think if anything he needs to run to the sideline more. He also needs to focus on outside the hash throws.

Nevermind a juke......He lowers his shoulder and initiates contact. That needs to stop tonight.

Yeah, NFL linemen, linebackers, and even some safeties will destroy him if he tries that. Unless you're the size of Cam, you should be avoiding contact as a QB. I'm fine with him stiff arming and trying to juke, but he can't be lowering his shoulder like a running back.

Hurst looks to be as advertised, a monster. You can see why they bypassed the likes of Ridley to pick him and he will be the Day 1 starter they need for him to be.

First impressions of Lamar, while obviously displaying great athleticism, he looks much more raw. The whippy, time consuming throwing motion doesn’t look smooth and is a worry. You have to wonder if shifting the balance away from the run will place extra pressure on his passing and affect his performance.

Jackson’s Wonderlic also remains a huge concern in that it’s a statistical fact that there have been only a handful of starting QBs with a low score and they are a minuscule percentage in the group of hundreds. It’s possible he will overcome the negatives, but I’m just trying to keep it real. He seems like a really great kid and I’ll be pulling hard for him to develop, but he’s not the lock that many seem to think he is.
