    Jesse Minter Head Coach

I saw it reported that he extended in the case that he doesn't get a HC job. So he's not going to be a DC elsewhere but he'd leave for a top job.

I hope they do. What I don't want is for them to hire Flores so we have to face his defense twice a year for the next two decades. Flores + Pittsburgh's ability to draft D linemen is a scary prospect.

    Jesse Minter Head Coach

The O line is much more important than the OC. If you protect Lamar he'll score against any defense and every season of his career has been ended by the O line getting dominated, either in a playoff game or all season long.

    Jesse Minter Head Coach

I'd have preferred an offensive coach but we could have done a lot worse than Minty Jester. You got the feeling they'd hire a defensive coach after having a bad defense for 12 whole months. That kind of thing isn't tolerated in Baltimore,

MacDonald wanted him for that role, so why not? As longer as there's someone better over him. Players seems to like him etc.

They drafted him in the first and he's low in their weak WR depth chart.

Sample size and two backs don't really go together. Admittedly, neither does my eye test of just liking some of the things he does in the run game. Kingsbury did work with some really untalented teams with bad GMs so there wasn't much of an O line to make space for the backs either. He's...

I don't hate the idea of Kingsbury as OC as much as everyone else seems to. He has his flaws but he is a good designer of plays. Every year he comes in with some new stuff that has his offenses flying for the first half of the season before the league catches up and it stagnates. (Flaws as I...

This feels like draft night with all the players we want coming off the board as we wait to pick

I've been pretty relaxed about this whole coach hiring process because nobody knows who will make a good head coach. We wanted Garrett ahead of Harbaugh. Quite often the last guy hired, when all the first choice coaches are off the market ends up as the best one. So I didn't really have a...

Thank god we didn't make the playoffs. That Steelers team played us close twice yet they were miles behind the Texans, even with a spiraling Stroud taking out two of his own receivers. Much better to get a higher pick, Harbaugh gone and avoid the embarrassment.

The league needs a rule keeping him away from good QBs, the same way they protect them from big hits because the NFL's less interesting when they're out. You want to run Romanball with Justin Fields? Ok, go ahead. With Lamar or Herbert? Fuck off. Massive fine.

Watching Patriots-Chargers with an eye to Minter as a potential HC candidate, I couldn't help but notice the Chargers offensive playcaller. Do we think Greg Roman could work well with Lamar?

I'm quite pleased I managed to understand that, though I'm not going to attempt to reply in Spanish. I agree with what you say about Orr. Using Simpson more often in a PQ role would have helped. I still don't understand why you think running 4-2-5 from a historical 4/3 background would need...

I'm not sure why you think so. Every team would use Hamilton and Roquan very similarly to the Ravens. You could argue that Jones as a bigger D Lineman, better against the run than the pass , is more suited to a 3/4, but every team would happily have him as part of their rotation. Maybe...

Is there a difference anymore? Most teams, Ravens included, line up with 4 on the line, a maximum of 2 LBs and 5/6 DBs most of the time. They all want pass rushers who can get pressure, not matter what size they are, and linebackers that can cover if possible. The biggest difference...

Minter is definitely the top of the Mike MacDonald tree but I don't think we should give up on it just because we picked the wrong guy in Orr. I'd be very happy with Wilson or Weaver as DC. (Unless Flores wants that job.)

Maybe, but I thought really impressive that he managed to come up with a system that would work with Tua and one of the NFL's worst O lines. That offense would have been unwatchable with a lot of playcallers. I don't know if that's all he's got, given that Shanahan tried to keep him hidden...

He offers a 2nd hand version of Mike MacDonald's scheme, a bit like Orr (and Minter tbh). I thought he did Ok with that, despite a lack of talent.
