I don’t think that would be a meltdown. I’d be upset but I hear everywhere that starks is this incredible value at 27 and I guess I’m just not seeing how good he is.

I mean I see what he’s capable of, he has potential to be one of, if not the best coverage safety in the league, I just struggle to project any college safety being that kinda guy at the next level because they are just so rare. The safe bet and projection that you can make is the safety that works well in split safety looks, and I’m not convinced starks is that type, i think he’s gonna get pigeon holed because he’s not a down low kinda safety, and thats a huge ask, and I’ve seen enough mental lapses from his tape to genuinely worry about this projection.

But hey, the pros know best right?

i think my issue is similar - how much value does a true single high safety offer you in a league that's running cover 2
if this was 2013 then i'd be more excited i think

it's partly about positional value, but idk that the skills starks brings, translate to a drastic improvement to a defence that's already great
feel like he'd have more value on a team with a less talented secondary around him

I don't think the Ravens have anyone on the team that can make this kind of interception. I'm genuinely rooting for Starks to be our pick.

i've seen this highlight so many times and it definitely highlights the best parts of him
the fluid hips, the transition quickness, the range, the instincts and the ball skills

In hindsight, my source not getting the names of any S but Starks should have clued me in to this being the strongest possibility.

unless all the visits were an obvious waste of time - they've put a lot of effort into the late day 2 early day 3 safeties
no way they'd be drafting any of those guys with starks as the pick...

that's my hope

a bit like starks...

not what i want, but understand it if he's the guy
I fall off of the Tyler booker hype every time.

And then every time I turn on the tape I hop right back on the train.

He might be slightly limited as far as what he can do, like stretch wont be a staple in your playbook, but he has absolutely unquestioned elite core strength, balance, anchor, and drive. he’s a stud in pass pro with that anchor and brute strength to stymie and stop a rush even if he doesn’t catch you square. Absolute man mover in the run game, if he ends up with us then I’d really look forward to seeing how he opens up linderbaum and whichever OT he plays next to, does he create space to the point that these guys are freed up to block the next level the way a NT does for a LB?

I also think he has room to get even stronger and thicker as he ages, he’s large and very strong but he clearly has room in the upper body to add muscle, maybe significantly.

I feel as if there would be a player or two available that I might prefer, but I also think booker is a slam dunk solution to our ongoing LG woes and would be a force multiplier for our offense.

I called Lindy after Hollywood was traded and now I’m calling T-Book. Either him or Starks will be the pick

Mocks have been all over the place the last week so i'm going to give a long list...

but these players are all in my top 20 and i would be (ultimately) happy if any of them were our pick at 27 (and i think it's pretty realistic that at least 1 of them is available at 27 given what we've been hearing the last few hours, days, weeks...

Josh Simmons
Walter Nolen
Derrick Harmon
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Kelvin Banks Jr
Shemar Stewart
Malaki Starks
Grey Zabel

it's possible, or even probable, that some of these guys go a lot higher and even in the top 10 in some cases but based on current sentiment, it's also probable that 1 (or more) of these guys is an option at 27

Starks and Booker (or any Guard) scream "win now" approach. Those are both guys who would line up day 1 and play 90% snaps as rookies.

for me that's basically the only argument for booker - that he's guaranteed to have a big year 1 impact by playing close to 100% of the snaps by default because of the position he plays

idk that that's a good enough argument for me but if he's the pick ill certainly get behind and be excited by the explosive power he has

but ive also got to stay true to my board which says he's not a top 27 player in this draft

One guy who I just have never gotten on board with is Shemar Stewart. I just don’t see it on tape, legitimately idk what he even does well, seems like he’s not impacting the game much at all.

To be fair, top 27 is highly subjective this year, more than most years.

Surprised you have Zabel in there. What do people see in this guy? Small college, average size, not a LT prospect... I'm no draftnik so I'd love to know.

Every draft will be a win now draft until Lamar is gone. Generally, I think teams want their first rounders to start in year 1. For me, projects should be for later rounds.
