The Andrews, the Defense, and the Blocking

I get it. I just don’t see it getting better by any external addition because those guys are available for a reason. You have what you have in house at this stage. I get the chemistry thing but if the results aren’t there…
Im with you. I am just predicting Harbaugh doesn't make the Cleveland for Vorhees move

Probably not. They took the approach last year that the OL would settle in, and they ultimately did. Hopefully the same holds true this year.

Just weird shades of last year, with the same but also different problems.

At this point you have to wonder if switching Vorhees isn't at least on the table. He has been by far the worst person on the OL. It's also crazy how bad we are without Ricard. It's like we can't run the ball.

We're missing the most important players (Madubuike, Ricard, Likely) at the most important time.

Only difference last year is Rosengarten, Stanley, Linderbaum held it down. Our OL is now officially awful. This was by far their worst game and they were without one of their key IDL players.

I actually think Mitchell-Paden has done a nice job as a fill in, but it still somehow just doesn’t stack up to what Ricard does. We’re so much better with him on the field and it doesn’t make sense because it’s so damn obvious what’s gonna happen but they still can’t stop it.

Ricard might be our best lineman

This is a really frustrating team.

They got smoked on both lines of scrimmage. It shouldn't come as a surprise really. The front office hasn't spent many premium picks on the trenches. But they spend 1st's on safeties twice in 4yrs.

Lamar looked flustered. He didn't play as well as the statline will show. The OL was bad and I think it caused him to do too much. Some of those sacks were a result of #8 holding it too long. He didn't look explosive as a runner.

The defense isn't good. I think they will be an average group at best. It's hard to win at a high level when that's the case. They don't force turnovers. For as many big names as the defense has, they can't force a turnover in a big game. Frustrating.

I think it's fair to expect the Ravens to be 1-3 by next Monday. Hard to like their chances in Arrowhead.

Also feel like I do need to give Detroit some credit though. That’s a team of dogs led by a fucking maniac and they all buy in. They have a type and they mesh so well together. It’s impressive. I know it’s easy to come in here and shit on the Ravens, and it’s definitely deserved, but that’s still a really good fucking team we faced. We need to start coming out ahead in the battles of the best of the best of course.

Yeah I mean, I don’t want to excuse it, but this is a gauntlet of a schedule right now. Hopefully it’s a lot like last year where we suck to start and then start to put it together when it matters most. I don’t have confidence in that at this point, but it mirrors last year to some extent. Hopefully we can pull out on the other side of this again.

But I don’t disagree. I think it’s probably time to shake up the OL. On D, I don’t know if I have a solution. We have to get better up front but I don’t know that we have someone on the team that can step up. And I don’t know if there’s anyone worth a damn available either. I think that’s a roster construction failure.

I'm hoping for that as well. At least do have a consistent track record for pulling ourselves out of the fire. I think if we were going to contextualize it our hopes going into the season. Mike Green looked like he could revitalize our ability to depend on a young pass rusher to consistently provide pressure. We were hoping for Roger Rosengarten to either take a step forward or at least play on par with his rock solid rookie season, especially to help offset the issues on the interior. Those were mostly fair, especially with Andrew Vorhees looking like he returnee to form in the preseason. Those falling expectations are throwing us for a loop, and between LG, RG and RT, we're just not moving people up front. And we need that physicality if we're going to open lanes for Derrick Henry.

Regarding the latter...

30 pressures is insane. I know Lamar was part of the problem late, but this is untenable.

Yep. I think it was either St. Brown or Gibbs who mentioned the 2023 game. They said the offense was tired in the 2nd half because we were simply the more physical team. Going into the game, they said they needed to match the physicality (or be even more physical than us).

Again, I'm not letting Orr off the hook, but when your front-7 is getting beat like a drum at the LOS, what is a coordinator supposed to do? Blitzing isn't gonna work unless you time it perfectly and even then, they have a number of playmakers that'll make you pay for it.
