Coaching Carousel 2026

He deserves a lot of credit. There are a couple things I'd say though:
1. I think people are realizing there's not that much of a talent gap between Purdy and Jones. Part of the reason you bring in Jones is for this reason. And we've pretty much always known that Shanahan's offense is largely QB-friendly.
2. Something people have been saying since the preseason, but they have an extremely friendly schedule this year. NFC South, AFC South (played the Colts with Rivers, not Jones) and Giants/Browns. You can lose all four to LAR and SEA and still win 9-10 games with that schedule easily.

They're a good football team and a contender. But keep in mind that, today, they're 9-1 against teams .500 or worse (only loss to Tampa), and 3-3 against teams +.500
To be fair, ive come to realize that us, eagles and kc are some of the only teams who actually consistently do well against the playoff teams during regular season

That's true yes. Which also leads to a lot of teams being more "battle tested" in January.

I like SF's roster and their coaching, and so it's not really a "knock" on them as much as it is a reality. Patriots are in the same boat... extremely favorable scheduling. That's what comes from being 3rd/4th in your division in the prior year and getting an optimal scheduling draw.

It's just worth pointing out that the types of teams they'll likely see in the Divisional round-forward (assuming they're able to get the 5 seed and play TB/CAR in the first round) are teams that they've basically been .500 against during the season.

adams isn't going to go anywhere just to not call plays
that would just be doing what he's doing in dallas

regardless of whoever you bring in or even if harbs isn't let go, looking at the OC and OL position coach are a must
If we're looking for an OC then I'd poach someone from the 49ers staff to try to get that system. Or whatever staff developed Willis for the Packers.

As in McDaniel is gonna get fired in Miami?

As in McDaniel to Baltimore?

I believe that is Klay Kubiac....the other son of Gary Kubiac. Adam Stenavich is the OC under Lefleur for the Packers who was promoted after serving as Offensive Line coach and Run Game coordinator.

Packers and the 49ers run the same type of offensive system. The issue is would it be a ideal system Lamar would want to play in ? The offensive system is quarterback friendly for sure but it doesn't typically allow the quarterback freedom to audible or change the play at will. Lamar has express in the past before Monken arrive how he wanted more control and more say in the offense when it comes audibles and changing the play. Monken Air Raid offense gave Lamar that freedom which we have seen him have back to back to MVP seasons in up until this year which we can say is contributed to the offensive line pass and run blocking woes.

Lamar also won an MVP in a structured system. The problem was the system did not evolve.

The Browns letting Stefanski go but keeping their GM who traded for Deshaun Watson, gave Watson that insane contract is such a Browns thing to do.

I’m pretty sure the owner made that call. That’s why the GM gets a pass

Lamar won' MVP in 2019 in a structured system for sure but after that he just simply struggled with his throwing mechanics. Seems like his throwing mechanics would start off hot early in the season but then get cold as the season went on. We didn't really start seeing him bloom as a passer and his throwing mechanics staying consistently hot throughout the season untill Todd Monken arrived which he(Monken) basically combined what Greg Roman started with his own air raid concepts.

Outside of that I don't think it's a good idea to put Lamar back into a cage just because as fans we like a offense similar to the 49ers. It was just in 2024 where the ravens offense nearly rivaled the greatest show on turf. I just think it's a smart idea to keep Monken and this offense around and just simply add better talent to the offensive line.

Mike....... send Klint Kubiak a one way ticket from Seattle to Baltimore. I'm officially on board with Klint Kubiak as the my number one candidate I want to replace John Harbaugh.

The issue with Roman and the offense as the season went on was how predictable the offense was. If they weren't moving the ball on the ground at a historic rate every single time then everything would fall apart. Romans offense simply didn't ask Lamar to be a better passer. There were many concepts they simply did not run. I forget which receiver was here but there were some videos that leaked from Ravens practices where they would run plays that we would never see in the games.

I am not against keeping Monken, I just see similar issues with him that I saw with Roman which is this case I am attributing to John. I want the next head coach to be an offensive mind so if it means getting rid of Monken so be it. In a perfect world Klint Kubiak and Monken are together.

Listening to Schefter this morning, he says it's likely Tomlin is safe regardless of the result tonight in Pittsburgh. That more people should be talking about Harbaugh's job status compared to Mike Tomlin. There will be meetings after the season to determine what happens going forward, but is leaning toward SAFE for John Harbaugh's job status. Thought it was interesting that Sean McDermott was also brought up in the event Buffalo loses in the playoffs.

Schefter says Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Zac Taylor, Todd Bowles, Raheem Morris, Jonathan Gannon, Shane Steichen, Mike McDaniel, Sean McDermott and Aaron Glenn are all leaning safe. With Pete Carroll and Kevin Stefanski as the only two definite firings heading into today's games.

They’ve been hella leaking the strenuous relationship tidbit between Lamar and Harbaugh for weeks now.

There’s no way Ravens would let that keep building if they had plans to bring back both next season. Would’ve been some type of damage control by now.

Either Lamar or Harbaugh is gone next season.

Good luck selling season tickets if it’s the “bye Lamar, keep Harbaugh” scenario.
