Coaching Carousel 2026

It would only be coordinators who are getting let go because the HC gets fired. Like Schwartz.

I agree that if Brian Flores is coaching on the Ravens next year, it's either as a HC or not at all. While it's happened before, not very frequent where coordinators bounce from one team to another without getting fired effectively.
Flores has an expiring contract so technically he could come here still but I would think he’d want to stay in MIN

That was my concern as well. He was purely a chase defender, he wasn’t exactly a high iq or intuitive player, he just had good range and tackled well. I was surprised he was rising so fast through the ranks because I never saw him as the kinda player who I thought would be a coaching prodigy.

I think Harbaugh just really liked Zach Orr the person, probably loved his energy as a position coach, probably commanded the room pretty well with those guys, and that was enough for Harbaugh to make him his project and once Harbaugh makes that decision we all know he’s gonna die on that hill.
I think Zach Orr general seem like the upside pick as a defensive coordinator over the other coaches that were available at the time of hire. I think Harbaugh saw the next upcoming innovative defensive coordintor. We saw in his first year how the defense got better and played well in the playoffs. This year didn't go as great but the defense did perform better but it was obvious that the lack of pass rush talent on the team was not helping Orr at all. It's hard to really be successful as a defensive coordinator when your pass rush isn't nearly consist as you would like itr it to be especially on obvious passing downs.

We saw how during Mike MacDonald first year as the defensive coordinator how his defense was struggling at times in pass coverage especially to cover the middle of the field until they traded for Roquan Smith. I don't think Orr got as much support for his defense like Mike MacDonald did but it is what it is . I think Orr got what it takes to be a good defensive coordinator. I hope he eventually shines and find his way.

Feels like a lot of you want coordinators that already have coordinator jobs. Guys aren’t leaving their current roles unless they get the HC promotion.

only exception is a guy like Flores who is out of contract
or potentially a guy who isn't a playcaller in their current role who might be coaxed into a "lateral" move to become a playcaller

I mean Weaver is a current NFL DC and has called defensive plays for 3 years. I'm not saying its guaranteed he would keep doing that, but it's not like Harbaugh where he'd never called plays on either side of the ball.

If I'm hiring Weaver I'd expect it'll be his defense to run. And he would probably just make one of his assistants from Miami or other franchises his defacto DC. I don't think he'd go target another "big name" at that job.

the problem is not that he hasn't done it
it's more that his defences have always been awful and the players who've worked with him as a coordinator have never had great things to say about him as a DC, whereas players who've worked with him as their positional DL coach have raved about him

if you hire weaver and he's running the defence, then you're basically committing to a schematic downgrade on defence unless he hands over the keys to a DC

we're saying him calling plays is a downside of him becoming your HC because at 2 stops now his defences have been very not good

Flores HC and McDaniel OC sounds very good.
I would not be against Stefanski HC and Saleh DC

I do hope EDC is going the Howie route and trying to build a dream team at HC/OC/DC. Mike McDaniel is a weird one to me. Not sure I want him in Balt but wouldn't want to see him in the division either. I could warm up to the idea if it comes to be.

Flores lawsuit against the NFL is still active. 10 % chance he becomes our Head coach. Very unlikely.

Miami has their GM from Green Bay. Perhaps Miami will look at one of the coordinators in Green Bay now?

The Coaching Carousel makes for a lot of messaging. Monken is apparently still here, but that's not going to last. The Ravens had two major problems that denied us a playoff opportunity. Defense and Lamar Jackson availability. The Defense lost big lead after big lead. It became a joke here. Everyone was spirit broken by that bad defense. The other problem was Lamar Jackson. He performed at a lower level and missed too many games...four. Jackson was not running with the same ability this year. That step off was apparent from the first game. For the games he started the Ravens were 6-7, because he was not as dynamic and could not overcome a poor defense. Combine not playing and having the defense let us down Lamars contribution was closer to 6-11 in "game contribution", even though we won 2 of his missed games.

So what needs fixed worst? Like in the worst way what needs fixed?

GTFOH with that bullshit. You aware Lamar was injured nearly entire season?

I just mentioned this individually via PM, but on the Weaver front...

People fear his defensive success (or lack thereof) but if he were to get the job, I would almost be willing to bet part of the agreement is that he is not going to be running the defense. There would be an expectation that the DC in place is in charge. I was told very explicitly that they viewed his as a much better HC candidate than a DC candidate and that was the biggest factor why he didn't get the job back when Orr did. I don't see that switching, especially after seeing similar themes down in Miami.

Great so another harbaugh who’s gonna come off like an incompetent cornball as soon as he can’t fix a problem

This made me lol.

As it stands today, we do not need another (and I hate using this term with it being so big rn) CEO-type coach.

In today’s NFL and what feels like the past 6-7 years, it’s the teams with the schematic advantage who have had more success.

I agree, I’m not really interested in Weaver. He and Orr never really found success after McDonald left. We have a top 5 offensive player and top 5 defensive player in the league, we need guys who are going to maximize what we get out of them.

That’s horrible to hear lol are you hearing this from your guy?
