Coaching Carousel 2026

each of those in-person interviews will be a full day each where they go round all the departments, talk to steve, talk to the front office, talk to lamar (if he's there)

if there's candidates, that will be 5 days

it's possible we might know by the end of next week but if Round 1 is only finishing sunday, my guess is round 2 isn't starting until Tuesday and if any of their top guys are still involved in the playoffs, they'll have to wait until that team is eliminated or wait until the week after the conference championship games for teams involved in the superbowl

guys that might affect:
Webb, Joseph, Kubiak, Saleh, Shula, Scheelhaase, Brady

so my guess is it's still a couple of weeks away
Could be a case where I'm not paying attention much to other job openings, but there's been like 7-8 gigs open for like 10 days now, and it doesn't seem like any team is really that close to signing somebody. So either everybody is waiting for candidates that are still in the playoffs (which I don't really think there's that many options there), or all of these coaches are like waiting for the Ravens job domino to drop and then everybody else falls in line.

Maybe its never this way, but I would have expected by the end of this week like at least 2-3 jobs would be filled, and maybe more.

normally the guys and teams that get hired this quickly are the ones who have been ready to replace their coach for a while
or they're the teams that hire coaches that aren't necessarily wrapped up in playoff stuff

last year i think it was only vrabel that got done quickly

Seems about right. When I looked at last year, Vrabel was hired in the first week.
Johnson, Glenn, Cohen, Schottenheimer and Carroll were all hired 2-3 weeks after Black Monday. It's usually between 15-20 days. So that would suggest next week will be the big "hiring spree" week.

But to your point... there were multiple openings already before Black Monday, and I'm sort of surprised those teams are taking as long as they are. Harbaugh being the exception.

Monken was an incredible OC. Pissed the way his name got dragged through the mud. He produced two of the most efficient seasons of a Qb ever and was clearly a big part of elevating Lamar's game. Watching the chargers made me remember the world of no screens.

Yea he didn't adjust the best but reality is most OC's don't and those who do are HCs. We had an awesome balance on offense and I don't fault him for our shit guards. Tackles you can chip and he helped us out vs Pitt and cicny when needed, but coaching knowing inside pressure will be instant on 1/7 plays is not easy

It's more surprising that (as of yesterday) no teams other than the Giants had fulfilled Rooney Rule obligations to even make a hire yet. Seems like a lot of wide open jobs and teams being picky/taking their time.

BACK to Baltimore? Has he already been here?
I read it as his friend is in Pitt and is flying back to Baltimore lol

“Please god I’ll be OC just let me work with a real QB I beg of you”
That clip of him talking with Tua has me so excited - he’s clearly a great communicator with his players. I’d bet a lot of money Lamar would get his third MVP if Mike is scheming up the offensive plays

Nabbing Mike as HC would differ from what we’re traditionally used to in Baltimore (“CEO” rah-rah/strong culture guys like Billick and Harbaugh) but Steve did make it known he is interested in an X’s and O’s HC and as I’ve stated before, Mike scored extremely highly on those player report cards while in Miami

I know folks aren’t entirely sold on Mike as HC but I absolutely would not be opposed
