I would be surprised if Ozzie , Eric , Biscotti look at a guy like Mike McDaniel and be like that's the leader and the guy that's going to build upon the culture we already started . Only person I could see liking him a lot in that regard is probably Lamar but we shall see.

I know Keondre Jackson attributed a lot his rise to shadowing Levine, so maybe a bigger loss than it would seem on paper. At the same time, these guys gotta go get jobs while they're available. No guarantees that the new coach wants to keep guys on.

The idea of firing Harbaugh comes with the idea of change and improvement, or at least the hope of it.

With all the former coaches, that idea disappears. None of them are better than Harbaugh. In fact, when we faced them, we crushed them, and it wasn't just because of Lamar. Maybe this last year things evened out, but we were always better.
With new guys, they bring hope and a breath of fresh air. Maybe things will go wrong later and we'll have to find a new coach, but with new guys, things can be better. With the exes, you won't be better than when John was there (and I hate John).

based on the way they've gone through the process, if it's Kubiak, I'll be pumped

but based on the way they've gone through the process, i'd be surprised if kubiak's a top option

as soon as mike mcdaniel became available, my intrigue in kubiak was dramatically lessened - obviously they're different people and this is somewhat overly simplistic, but to me, mcdaniel is Kubiak but with more HC experience, better charisma/charm/room control, and a better running game

You’re not concerned with his quirky personality? Personally I’m not and I could see it messing well with Biscotti and Lamar but I know others feel differently.

I tend to agree, but it seems like the logic behind it (like Bisciotti more or less said) is that these guys were the Kubiaks, Minters, Mike Macdonalds, and Ben Johnsons of their hiring cycles. Some of their situations were really bad (i.e. Stefanski with the Watson contract and Baker/OBJ drama, Saleh with the Rodgers injury/Zach Wilson, etc.). Stefanski and Saleh, as an example, both have solid track records of putting good staffs together.

I'm a little less sympathetic to guys whose teams ended up better after they left and/or churned through staffs of holdovers/guys who ended up out of the league.

First of all, Saleh didnt bring bad OCs to the Jets, Mike Lafleur had success later in LA Rams, I know is mostly because McVay but point stands, so it was a matter of talent (or lack of talent in this case) what made them fail in NY, no good QB in +3 years. And also, known locker room cancer Aaron Rodgers didnt make things easier in the final year

Most important personally, the guy almost guarantee a top 5 defense. We need agressive, in your face kind of D, that is our trademark and we have the talent. If we can pair that with a nerd at OC who maximize Lamar, we are gold

Having or not having a quarterback is an excuse. You can try others, make better selections, hire better coordinators, try a different style of play.
I don't remember Shanahan complaining about any particular quarterback.
You had four years to fix that situation and you didn't.

Assuming he had control of the draft process, what are you do in a sport where one position on offense is much more important than any other? Look how good Sean Payton looked the year Brees retired. He had one year without him and called in quits. Went 9-8.

Nobody has looked good on the Jets since Rex Ryan and that was over 10 years ago

Seems about right. When I looked at last year, Vrabel was hired in the first week.
Johnson, Glenn, Cohen, Schottenheimer and Carroll were all hired 2-3 weeks after Black Monday. It's usually between 15-20 days. So that would suggest next week will be the big "hiring spree" week.

But to your point... there were multiple openings already before Black Monday, and I'm sort of surprised those teams are taking as long as they are. Harbaugh being the exception.

Probably somewhat procedural - you’re not allowed to interview any playoff coaches in person until after the divisional round - and to satisfy the Rooney rule you have to do at least 2 in-person interviews with external minority candidates

But yeah that’s why there’s normally a spate in the week after the divisional round

Monken was an incredible OC. Pissed the way his name got dragged through the mud. He produced two of the most efficient seasons of a Qb ever and was clearly a big part of elevating Lamar's game. Watching the chargers made me remember the world of no screens.

Yea he didn't adjust the best but reality is most OC's don't and those who do are HCs. We had an awesome balance on offense and I don't fault him for our shit guards. Tackles you can chip and he helped us out vs Pitt and cicny when needed, but coaching knowing inside pressure will be instant on 1/7 plays is not easy

If Harbs was still here I’d have been ok with just getting rid of Orr and sorting out the positional staff on offence
