Coaching Carousel 2026

Hang this in the Louvre

Heard tonight that they have a preference for an offensive option but they aren't going to force that if someone else just outright wins the job.
EDC saying they prefer an Xs and Os coach is music to my ears.

Prefering an offensive coach but not predeciding it is more music. (Personal feeling is this statement was made because the defensive guys are looking like the better choices thus far)

Steve saying nothing is going to rule candidates out of phase 1 and they're casting a wide net... chef's kiss.

The ONLY ONLY ONLY thing I care about is that Weaver is not made the HC.

I trust in them to do the rest.

Wouldn't put too much into that. Again, just getting some info late. I feel highly confident that was the thought as they started the process and not any reaction to how the interviews have been going.

Pretty good stuff. I haven’t been so sure on McDaniel but I haven’t heard him talk on a deeper level like this before. He might be a legit great football mind.

I feel like we’d need a really high end DC and keep getting them as they leave for other jobs if we get a McDaniel, he doesn’t strike me as a guy who’s gonna lead a hard nosed defensive team.

I do wonder if a guy like McDaniel plus managing to land a high end DC like Schwartz or Flores could be enough to just go nuts for a season and win it all, even if it doesn’t work out long term for whatever reason.

it's the jets. No one is good with the Jets.

He could try and bring clay kubiak with him. Kyle speaks very highly of clay.

They’re all in the same clique. Nepo-Babies. It’s a good clique though.
I’ll take someone in that Shanahan-McVay-Kubiak-LaFleur clique.
They like the Justice League of NFL coaches right now. So hot.

Remember EDC making that video where he look to the stars and zodiac for drafting? He should do the same for coach selection.

Referring to your second point, I’m not sure what they’re grading? Their synergy with Lamar? Nagy being an A+ is crazy but honestly trying to grade that at all is simply just guessing. My guess is that he and McDaniel would vibe purely because Lamar seems to be silly/goofy but a workaholic and that’s the same vibe I get from McDaniel. I may be in the minority but that’s my pick at HC. As long as he brings along a tough minded DC.

Corny sometimes, but bro tell me he isn’t bringing back that 2019, play loose and let’s have fun vibes. Along with his creativity, I’m all in. Idc that he doesn’t bring that “leader of men” type shit. We’re better than most teams roster wise, let’s just use that talent to play loose and kick some ass.

when i heard him on the playcallers podcast that jourdan rodrigue did a few years ago about the kyle shanahan tree he was a big part and you could hear from the way he talks about football that he's a bit of a savant

he's an offensive psychopath

i think if you hire mcdaniel, you do need to empower him to get a support system of coaches around him to allow him to cook a little bit - but i think that's so valuable because he's a great schemer/game-planner, he's incredibly driven, but also a really good communicator
