Coaching Carousel 2026

I wouldn’t disqualify McDaniel as OC because he’d be a home run hire there but this is in the back of my mind, bc he likely would be here for one year I feel like before getting another HC job this time next year

this is why i find the wishlists with McDaniel at OC so short-sighted - he'll be gone next year - and the only benefit of that is you'd pick up 2 3rd round picks for him leaving

LOL you saw that bullshit too?! Tf kind of sources ProFootballTalk have to make them speak with their chest about speculating a potential Lamar trade to them? @Simba
The media knows Lamar gets clicks.

Also, think they know the fanbase has a toxic following who will give them the attention they don't deserve.

You don't need sources when presenting trash ideas.

I think Lamar realistically has 3 yrs left of elite play and let's assume 1 of those will be injury plagued again. I have no problem cycling through red hot OC's spring boarding to HC positions for those years. i don't think Lamar really needs stability there, he's at a spot where any additional offensive minds can just teach him a new trick or two. What we need is a guy who will scheme those 4th downs and red zones and call plays in sequences and adjust to game flow. Any Shanahan -like offense Lamar will learn it over night.

For what it’s worth, sounds like Saleh wasn’t a finalist here anyways. Fine interview… just not what they were looking for

I'm not liking where this is headed. Steelers look to be circling a Flores HC/ Scheelhaase OC combo. Bills will jump on Webb. That would leave us with Minter/Brady?

Yuck. No.

That’s exactly what I thought. Only reason it would make sense for TEN to be his top choice.

That would also mean we keep every successful OC/DC only for a year, two at best. I'm a bit sick of recycling both coordinators at that rate.

Head coaches that call plays still suffer a loss when their coordinators leave. As great as Kyle Shanahan is as a play calling head coach there is no way he's coming up with all of the creativity on his own. If he lost a lot on his coaching staff or important coordinator on he offensive side then it would hurt and it would be up to him not find someone just as good or better which can be a challenge.

Andy Reid calls the plays for the chiefs and there's reason why they are moving from Matt Nagy if true.
